Nina, i rehabbed a boat a few years ago for my brother and he loves it. No carpet. just treated plywood and brass screws. Looks good and holding fine!!! Can't wait to see you on the water jerkin' lips!!!!!!!!!!!

We've had a few people wondering about the carpet, truth is, its for the dogs. We've got a little guy along with Moose now, and we figured the two of them together could use the extra footing while they're bumping and staggering around. Lol

Looks like a fun project, my dad and I did this many years ago when we purchased a Lund v-bottom fishing boat. We even replaced the woodwork that was done in oak- I stripped the pieces, sanded, re-stained them, and then gave them several good coats of UV resistant spar urethane . We rewired the boat, replaced pumps, lighting, the marine plywood decking, added a trolling motor and upgraded the boat's motor to an E-tec. We got to use it on a couple big trips, then dad's health went south and he ended up selling the boat- we ended up getting back considerably more than what we paid for it because of all the upgrades we did, haha.

Always enjoy watching the adventures, the humor and Nina's endless flare for finding the perfect visual angles while doing whatever she happens to be videoing. Part 3 of this build will probably be hiding the hinges where they don't show, and so you don't step on them barefooted, and reinstalling them straight.lol I've learned from experience that while spending a whole lot of time on a boat, especially when the fishing is slow-er, you notice EVERYTHING that can be better and needs to be fixed. Happy fishing/catching!

Great job! Coupla points if you ever have to do it again...taking the old carpet off of the plywood first will save you from having to trim it down to fit after you've already marked and cut it, and roll out adhesive on the wood when you lay it down on the carpet to fit and attach to the wood...that'll solve problems with small wrinkles in the carpeting. And you're absolutely right, Nina...not only is rehabbing an old boat satisfying, but when the screws match up to the old holes, that's GRAVY, baby! Stay safe!
