Today I will show you step by step how to replace your classic truck's cab body mount bushings and also share some reasons as to why you may want to replace yours! This is one of the most affordable & easy methods to improving the ride of your old truck.
I break it down into...
* Why you may need new bushings, symptoms of blown out bushings.
* How each of the pieces assemble and fit together.
* Actually show removing the old ones and installing the new.
I am demonstrating this on my 1966 C10 I call "Bandit", truck is a rescue/restomod with it's own playlist on my channel if you're interested in following the trucks journey back to life.
The Polyurethane body mount bushing kit I used in this video was very affordable....

For gmc models the rear original bolt is thinner and does not fit into the welded nut. Either use the original bolt or you must knock the welded nut out and use the nut supplied with the kit.

Thank you for watching! I am in the DFW area and had www.millersmetalbuildings.com build it for me. They do everything but the electrical.

Great Video. It's a personal choice but I think on an old suspension rubber is best. These old cars and trucks were built to give a little with all suspension parts. polyurethane will give a harder stiffer ride and not absorb vibration or road noise as good as rubber. Polyurethane also needs to be lubed regularly. Rubber will last 40-50 years. You will be dead before they need replacing.

Mark I tend to agree with you, rubber works great and is cost affordable. I was just trying to go a little more on the performance side this time (plus they were on sale and cheaper than the rubber ones LOL).

I’m about to do this install great how to video. I have a slightly bigger problem as a previous owner welded replacement floor panel and welded over the front bolts. Do you think I can lift the cab high enough to flip the bushings out but still hang onto the bolt without losing it into the interior cab welded panel? Also how is the ride after the install?
@CLASSICSAREBETTER
@CLASSICSAREBETTER 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The bolt is pretty long so it probably shouldn't be able to press up inside as the top would hit the "floor". The problem I see you running into is that you have no way to hold the bolt tight (since the head is covered) to first loosed the nut or to install the new one tight as the bolt would just spin under the floor. Is it the same on both driver and passenger side? If it's welded you could carefully lift the cab and make it happen, make sure all the mounts are loose. I haven't finished getting the LS running in it yet, so not sure on the ride, gotta be better than it was!

Thanks for watching. I think you are looking for are the Radiator or Core Support Bushings, my kit didn't have those in it. Best of luck on your project!

@@CLASSICSAREBETTER Hi, will those same principals have to be applied to install new cab bushings on my '83 Chevy C10? My truck is leaning on the driver's side. Front and rear. I installed new coil springs but didn't bother the leaf springs. PLEASE HELP!!! THANKS.

@@dirtypokesouthsideofh-town552 Hey thank you for watching. Look at your driver side bushings and if they are dry rotted or mushroomed out, then replace them. The cab can shift on the old bushings over time. Its cheap and easy and should def help. Good luck!!

What do I torque the bushing bolts to?
@CLASSICSAREBETTER
@CLASSICSAREBETTER 4 ай бұрын
You may want to google to double check for your ride, but on the C10, I think I remember the front mounts are like 50lb/ft and the rear are 20lb/ft, it's been a bit since I did those. Good luck on your project!
