I’m not 100% familiar with 3rd gens and this process but I’d check to see if the abs connector is in the same spot and if so disconnect it to be safe! No harm in doing so.

Just finished the bushings on the cab. Passenger side pinch welds were sitting on my rocksliders causing terrible clunks. My truck is a 2nd gen taco with 400k located in vancouver bc. Front passenger bolt were one with the oem bushings. We tried wd40 and pb blaster and heat and bfg. It didnt budge. Then someone offered us a legit penetrant called lloyd's moovit that loosened her right up after 20 mins or so with a help of bfg. Thanks for posting this guide. Luckily no other seiezed bolts that needed cutting or hacking. I still have to do the radiator mounts that came with the kit. Im just happy I solved the clunking.

Check your obd fuse it’s likely blown! As far as the abs codes once you read them it should give you an idea where to go! Those abs cables are more fragile then you might think. They can appear to be okay but still be broken inside.

So I bought just the 2 bushings for the front (radiator support) before knowing about this kit, the 2 OE bushings and sleeves actually cost more than the kit ffs, if I install these cab mounts should I take out the new OE replacements I just put in or just leave them? Are they exactly the same size?

@Adv4x4
@Adv4x4 4 жыл бұрын
Yessir shouldn’t be a problem! Definitely make sure the jacks holding up the frame of the vehicle are sturdy and also be sure they don’t end up moving on you when you lift the body to do each mount. Some pressure will be relieved from those main supports and could possibly move.

@@Adv4x4 2 years later I still haven't done the rear ones yet. Did the radiator ones and put new front cab bushings on when I had the front body mounts reversed to put 35"s on. Do I need to unbolt the front cab mounts to be able to do the rears?

Awesome video. Quick question, I’m planning on doing this myself at home using a floor jack, 4x4 for lifting and 2x4 for cribbing. In the video you showed doing one side only. When I do the one side, do I loosen the nut on the others side before lifting the cab or is it ok to leave those the way they are?

Hey John, I pulled the rack and pinion out of my tacoma to replace the bushings with energy suspension. Original bushings 350k miles. I got the passenger side bushings and sleeves removed, but the driver side is seized. I used a pickle fork also. You have any suggestions on removing the sleeve. The middle part of the bushing came oit but the main sleeve is stuck. Would heating it do anything.
@Adv4x4
@Adv4x4 2 жыл бұрын
I’d suggest spraying it with pb blaster or something similar and letting it sit overnight. There are some really good rust release sprays out there such as “free all” or wd40 makes one with “blue torch technology” it’s got a yellow and silver can. Works amazing. I’d advise against heating the rack just cause you could end up damaging seals.

Would a failed drivers side (rear) cab bushing sound like sheet metal on sheet metal? Sounds like someone is throwing a marble at sheet paneling behind cargo area. Only a 2015, double cab less than 40k on clock. Any response is appreciated.
@Adv4x4
@Adv4x4 4 жыл бұрын
With those low miles I can’t imagine your cab mount bushings (esp the rear) would be worn out yet. Is it only over bumps or off-road? My first suspect for abnormal creaking or popping in the rear would be the leaf spring. Potentially has a rock or debris in between the leafs. There was also a recall on the rear leafs of some Tacoma’s. Not sure if the 2015 fall in that category. But they would crack. Free replacement at dealer due to it being a safety issue. Call your local dealer with your VIN number ready and get them to check for any open recalls on the leaf packs.
@verynearlypure
@verynearlypure 4 жыл бұрын
Adv4x4 thanks for the reply. it’s definitely interior. I took the rear drivers seat out and it’s coming from right below the bushing plastic cap that protects the head of the bolt. I know Ohio’s salty winters can ruin bushings. It’s more annoying than anything and hasn’t gotten better with the warmer weather :(
@Adv4x4
@Adv4x4 4 жыл бұрын
Very Nearly Pure No problem! But I gotcha. Maybe it is your bushing then. I wish I could help more but hard to diagnose without being present. Best of luck👍🏻
@verynearlypure
@verynearlypure 4 жыл бұрын
Adv4x4 thank you I will look into leaf spring recall though. I’ve also been eyeing energy suspensions poly bushings for cab mounts and radiator mount. Maybe we’ll be back to quiet in time for winter to roll in again ;) is there a typical sound for what a failing cab mount bushing sounds like? Fwiw, sway bar bushings and end links have been upgraded to moog. Maybe it will break then I’ll know but it’s a Tacoma so prolly not ;)

@Adv4x4 4 жыл бұрын
Is the truck lifted? Do you have a bunch of heavy modifications such as a rooftop tent etc? Also are you seeing the lean from the front or back of the vehicle? The cab mount bushings will only effect how the cab sits, not the bed. So these would not correct a visible “lean” from the rear. If you are lifted, and experiencing a “lean” from the front that is common for lifted Tacoma to do that. Most lift kits either come with a shim to correct it or tell you to make the driver side coil over slightly taller then the passenger side.
@MyChemicalRemix
@MyChemicalRemix 4 жыл бұрын
the truck does have leveling spacers on the front and longer shackles in the back. but no other modifications. it is visible from both front and back.

Energy suspensions website doesn’t provide the information on wether it also fits 3rd gen Tacoma’s. Most other things fit the same between the 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma’s so I’d want to bet this kit will work. But maybe better idea to confirm it with someone who’s done it before. Check the part # on 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma’s for a regular cab mount bushing. If they are the same # then yes it will work

You mean check the regular ones . The oem ones ? Because iv been searching and the iem are all i can find for this truck i cant find any others that say will fit . The reason i want to change them is because im having a squeak in the front driver side and iv tried many things and it still squeaks so it might be the bushings

No problems here. Torqueing everything to spec is a VERY important step to a successful install with this kit. Along with having all the washers and hardware in the correct locations. I'd suggest loosening all your body mount main bolts and torquing them to the spec provided in the video. I hope that can help fix your issue!
