I was doing my usual Spring routine, lifting a John Deere Grooming Mower off the trailer it spends the Winter on in storage, when the right front tire squished down to almost completely flat, and the tractor tilted to one side. A rear tire came 4 inches off the ground!
When I looked at the underinflated flattened tire, I saw deeply cracked sidewalls. The tires are too old and dry rotted to continue using them safely. So I bought a pair of new tires and got to work changing them, with the help of my Harbor Freight Tire Changing tool.

I went through the exact same thing this afternoon. I used a pair of vice grips locked on the rim to hold the tire down and keep it from sliding around the rim. But I used the other end of the bar to push the tire onto the rim. I was putting a tube in the tire because I was tired of the tire leaking around the rim. God bless and I for one feel your pain. That's one job that I hope that i won't be doing anytime soon. 👍👍🙂

One non swivel pair of vice-grip c-clamp works great for guiding that second bead into the drop center. Did some 16" 6ply ag tires, not as tough looking as yours (congrats on not giving up) Just a thought, on your slight leakage, maybe just a bad valve core, or sometimes the beads may leak, break both beads and apply bead sealer.
