For reference this car also has a stock intercooler like mine. Both cars will be getting ATM Speedshop intercoolers 😎

Man, am I glad to find your channel. I currently have a '10 R55 Clubman S. It's also Pepper White and Ebony Black with a chome trim delete. I'm basically running full bolt on with a slightly bigger BorgWarner Airwerks turbo, a built head with forged internals, a stock bottom end, and a ClutchMasters FX-400 clutch and lightweight flywheel. Gecko coilovers, Magnaflow racing catless exhaust and Twisted Steel downpipe... Everything besides a few suspension upgrades, bigger brakes (I actually think the stock brakes are really good for my current setup), and a bottom end build. My problem is that I'm running into issues with tuning. The shop I go to is a great Euro Shop, but they are really quiet about their tuning. They have a deal and work with Malone Tuning. Currently, I'm at a stage 3 tune. The car pulls hard. I've managed to pull off a few 4.3 0-60s with a bunch of low 5s and high 4s in-between. I think the car can do better. I'm not too involved with the tuning process... Even though I want to be. They just tune the car and tell me its running strong. At $1000 per tune, I want more than that... I want to be more hands-on or involved in the process. It seems like actual good hardware and software used to tune MINIs is a closely kept secret. Honda has Hondata, Ford, and Subaru have Cobb and so on... What do MINIs have? Although MINI is BMW, MINIs are different. I can't for the life of me find a good tuning kit for my MINI. What do I do? Where do I go? I keep hearing the same few names like Burger and a few others, but they either don't exist anymore or are hard as hell to find. Why is tuning the MINI platform such a highly kept secret? I live in Louisville, KY. The only other decent option I can find is sending my ECU off to Detroit Tuned. What do you all do? If there are other MINI enthusiasts reading this crazy long comment... How do you tune your MINI? Any info would be helpful. The R56/55 platform have got enough issues to deal with. Now that I've spent a ridiculous amount fixing all of those issues, I'm going crazy tuning it. Please help...

Your turbo is good but definitely will be a restriction for when you want more power. It’s good for maybe 300whp on a mildly aggressive tune. The R300 is significantly bigger than the airwerks but isn’t huge. R300 is good for 350whp ish and 380ft lbs with supporting mods like internals and fueling. If you want more than that you would move away from stock frame turbos and get an aftermarket manifold

Man! Love your video! Straightforward and energetic! I wonder is it necessary to upgrade the clutch? I'm trying to install intake and turbo for my R60, stage 1 stuff, but have no clue whether I should upgrade the gearbox first. That's a lot of money to do it, so I'm kindly in a pickle. Would love to hear from your professional advice!

No need to upgrade the gearbox, it will be fine! Just ideally replace the fluid if you haven't yet. I run the clutchmasters fx300 clutch on mine, depending how far you go with mods determines what clutch you will need. I haven't run an r300 with stock clutch yet but I'm sure it wouldn't be happy. Generally you can run the power for a bit but it's not the most fun as you will have to baby it on the shifts as stock clutch will be at the limit. If you do pull once in a while you will be fine, if you drive like me it won't last long lol

Thank you so much! Sadly my car is an automatic gearbox(already regretted), so I guess the computer will shift the gear smoothly if I don't hit the paddle that hard? Or I should switch to a paddle shifter and do the gear shift myself. @@zevisgarage

Great detailed video. Looks pretty simple to install. Where did you get the turbo? and is that a bigger turbo or just a OEM replacement? I'm thinking of getting a bigger turbo but nothing crazy like having to have new pistons for my 2013 S.

It’s sold on RPM Powered Canada’s site and Detroit Tuned It’s significantly bigger than OEM, and packs a lot of punch. This is the perfect setup as there is no lag and holds power to the rev limiter

@@zevisgarage thanks for tuner info. I was going to ask you where to tune the car since I know N18 engines are a pain to tune. I might use Detroit Tuner not bad prices. 😁

@@luchforte I’m local to Mario Palza who is one of the RPM powered distributors, so I have him do it. Him and Detroit tuned are the 2 U.S. vendors

man you make this look so much easier than other people thank god. im about to grab a new turbo how long did this take you? also what size are the crush washers? i could order them off ecs or whatevers in their turbo install kid but if i can just go get some ill do that

@@jummynewtron I usually just go to the dealer for the crush washers as I get a discount. It takes me on average 3 hours to do the turbo but expect at least double that for your first time

what’s the benefit of the Diverter valve block off player ? do you get a check engine light due to the Diverter valve not being plugged in anymore ? how do you get around that TIA ! nice video

Thanks! I mainly run the block plate on manual cars, as I hate when the diverter valve dumps boost under slight throttle input changes. Definitely nice on the auto too. Some people leave it plugged in hanging, or you can just get resistors. I probably have a ghost code for it but no check engine for that specifically, I’m not running resistors or anything at the moment. Just unplugged

Great vid! Can you link where you got your carbon fiber air inlet pipe. Is that the ECS Tuning Kohlefaser Luft-Technik Intake System. sorry my question mark isnt working lol

Yes it’s the ECS Carbon intake. The inlet pipe was custom made by a friend!

I have a question about r56 headlights. My car came with the xenons with the headlight washers.. is there any way to delete those or would I need to find aftermarket lights that support the washers

You can remove the washers and adhere the chrome cap to the headlight. I have my washers removed on my countryman, just haven’t reinstalled the caps

Why is min not lighting off like that anymore since chargepipe and intercooler and yes it is making 17lbs but not until 6k

Smoke tested it well before I reached out No vaccume leak no surge no ruff idle no mis and boost leak tested it runs like a top I did notice in pid it’s commanding 100% but tps says it’s only opening 68.5% and blip’n the thing to the floor it’s only getting 50% this is what I’ve narrowed it down to but I’ve read couple forums and a lot say it never reads 100

Yup I already had a tune on it for this turbo, I just hadn’t installed the turbo till the filming of this

Definitely worth it, personally I wouldn’t buy any other stock frame turbo, most of the others are laggy or inefficient

The car wants a new thermostat housing, the thermostat still works but doesn’t stay quite as cool as it’s supposed to. I meant to mention that in the video
