I had a STANDARD IIRC I put on my truck & a couple months later the seam started leaking. No issue now, except I am working on getting the t-case put back up into my truck; 84 K20 Chevy Suburban.

I’ve had about 3 of the Delphi pumps. Have not had the issue with the bolt holes being too small. That would mean a casting issue because those usually don’t get machined, they should be as cast. The biggest issue is that they put out like 9 psi!! Which is way high for most carburetors and, yes, that’s with the return line open and hooked up. I’ve had to run a regulator to keep the pressure lower to not blow past the needle and seat. Oh well.

Ron,watch the fuel filter on the other truck with the 400, that filter pulses and only gets half full.

Pss..Joe, replace the air-filter, that sucker is filled with crap inside.. Will make your gorgeous truck run little better until engine rebuild. Good job with the fuel-pump trouble-shooting and replacement.

Word of warning on those glass filters. They can unscrew due to vibration. Fine to use on lawnmowers and such but not vehicles. The clear plastic ones are much safer. Looks like another fine example of ethanol gas.

True statement, had an engine fire due to one of those glass filters. Expensive lesson.
@VintageTexas593 жыл бұрын
Yes, I almost had a fire because of previous owner installed the glass-filter model..2 small rubber O-rings is "suppose" to keeping the gas out..but not reality... change to a regular plastic one and lift it more from the valve-cover..it get's hot there Joe.

My friend has a 82 c 10 . Sitting for 6yrs. We can't figure out why or where in fueling systems they engine cuts off. Only the fuel pump can you please give us any recommendations

Take the line loose from the carburetor blow air back through it with an air compressor and see if that helps it a lot of times it comes up and I will not pull fuel. Make sure you don’t have any pan holes in the steel line going from the gas tank over to the fuel pump.

I seen the problem... You need new rubbers on the flippers! How come it seems just about everyone in the USA knows how to pull and rebuild an engine? In the UK I'm pretty sure we've only just discovered what the spark plugs do...
@mybrotherdonnie3 жыл бұрын
It's because a lot of the classic detroit cars that everybody loves so much are sitting all over the place, you see an old chevy or dodge or something sitting out in somebody's field and you start thinking damn I could fix that thing up and it'd be cool again! Or you go to a junkyard and there's a bunch of them in it. So it's kind of everybody's dream to have an old car (or a lot of people), once you start messing with them they all have simple engines if they're the old ones so everybody learns on those old cars.
@steeveedee84783 жыл бұрын
@@mybrotherdonnie Sounds legit. You used to get cars dumped everywhere in UK in the 60's but they messed with the laws and they pretty much dissapeared overnight and we don't have much in the way of junkyards either. Plus properties here tend to be much smaller and much more expensive per square foot so you don't get guys stacking old cars in their back lot or old barns just because they can. There are exceptions of course but you deffo wouldn't expect to see a half decent car sitting in a field as scrappers would have it like a shot for the reclaim value. Old cars get crushed pretty fast here, even some in decent looking condition. We occasionally get scrappage schemes where the gov gives people cashback against new car purchases but the old ones have to be destroyed and it is heartbreaking to see some of the stuff some clueless people send for scrappage and there are videos of disused airfields of such cars awaiting destruction despite attempts to buy some of them out. There 'aint no fighting the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority)...

@@mybrotherdonnie THIS! Exactly this! I'd love to have another old American car, preferably a muscle car, but haven't got the budget. I used to have a 3rd Gen Trans Am which was a lot of fun, not exactly a muscle car, but still a V8!
