Thanks for posting this.. I was looking exactly to see how tough a job this was. I'm not wondering if changing the coolant more often would protect it, with the rust inhibitors being kept fresher in the coolant. I'm thinking it might. whatever the spec is, doing it early and more often. coolant is cheap compared to the time this took.

I certainly appreciated the entertainment value from this video but I'm doing the work now and it's really not that bad. I own a Honda Prelude so I'm really enjoying how easy it is to reach everything, I can SEE where my hands are supposed to be, all the fasteners are the SAME. I thought about selling my Jeep but this job makes me think twice because nothing is this easy to maintain. Except for a Miata...but I already own one of those.

But once I finished replacing everything, got it on the road, I realized how much I'm going to enjoy it. Actually this was very easy to do and I think it was like 4 hrs taking my time. Most of the dash can stay assembled. use ratchet straps around the passenger grab bar and loop around roll bar gives you plenty of room.
@joey011582
@joey011582 2 жыл бұрын
Leave steering wheel in, can remove the cluster but honestly I believe not even necessary. can leave radio in but must remove bezel and center console. this will give you plenty of room to remove. remove a few connections on the inside then A/C lines, Heater core lines, vacuum line and the six nuts.

Those heater cores are a real pain, ive changed a couple of them myself, and they don't get any easier, it's a 1400 dollar job at the shop i used to work at.i almost swapped my cutlass off for 1 that looked almost identical to yours until i drove it and found out the rear frame was rotted already, ive always liked the jeeps, have had many late 70s to mid 80s all with the v8s they are fun but can be a headache.

@caseybaker5550

Probably means that it is a pinhole that is small enough it evaporates before it can leak on the floor but there is probably some in your heaterbox regardless.
