I rebuilt the high school to be a modern eco school with so many enriching activities and there’s nobody f*cking there

I've built myself a japanese highschool a couple if months ago just for fun, and was super excited when this pack was announced and that I can actually try it with gameplay. To my surprise, it works completely (when updated with the necessary items). I love playing in it, the original building looked so depressing.

I cannot believe JUST how much nicer those fan-made Copperdale High Schools were. It looked attractive and welcoming, and like you say 'cosy and colourful'. It felt more like a real place that's been used and loved, rather than big, empty spaces with some chairs and tables plopped in, in front of a white board or a cafeteria section nearby.

3:23 I think those are suppose to be the gym locker rooms. You put your stuff there when your changing out for gym.

I think James Turner's high school was only base game and high school years. I like how he really thought about routing issues and eliminating things that make your sim take longer to get to class while still making it look very "school-like."

in my school in Germany we had two speacial classrooms with platforms, so this was very special for us every time we had classes in this rooms, it was very fun in the back rows

I am using the high school built by James Turner YT. The rooms are close together so it does not take the Sims forever to get from place to place. Highly recommend. 👍 💓

I wonder if the whole purpose of making it bland was to encourage people to customize their school. It doesn’t seem obvious enough, however, when we view the trailer, what we’re seeing in one shot is the same exact hallway looking completely different every few frames. These of course are just the surface details like walls, flooring, and stairs, but perhaps that was the point. I’m not excusing HSY for how bad it actually is overall, but on this one thing it seems like the idea was to change the school as you see fit so they kept it more bare bones as a starting point.

There are some British ones! I created one under JemmaTheSimmer which is based on my school, called Robert Piggott School as that's my old school name (but I did add in the American footballs and cheer for some stuff to do, but the rest is pretty accurate). It's based on a more rural school so multiple buildings and not second storey bits, open areas like the playground and grass quad. It uses some packs but not a load. Also I'll now have to go make a base game and high school only one now as there are so few! Pity the gallery filters are awful for finding schools.

Weird, they didn't seem to care much about performance when they released Journey to Batuu. Try running around in Batuu on a lower-end laptop or PC. That is why I'll never buy that excuse again. They're literally just lazy. BTW, they had a decorated version of the school during the live stream. So they will decorate it for a live stream, but not for the actual release. Incredible.

There is this mod for unlimited students in HS by Aramiteus, perfect opportunity to create a HS chaos experience.

It's a locker room, it's where you change before gym or a basketball game.

I like EA's excuse of "Well some people play on laptops." I did for 5 years, starting from 2014. Bought a 400$ Toshiba. Ran every game except Sims 3, and a lot of them were intensive multiplayer games. I could play literally everything on Medium, as can EVERY SINGLE LAPTOP MADE SINCE 2010. The only computers that cannot get above Low graphics are NOTEBOOKS, which YOU CANNOT PLAY SIMS 4 ON ANYWAY. So they're designing a game around players that DO NOT EVEN EXIST. And it's so hilarious to see just how stupid they really are. What's even worse is that this game only has the graphics going for it. The gameplay is so absolute garbage that if EA said tomorrow "We're deleting all gameplay and making this a house builder," everyone would accept that and be HAPPIER because now they're going to actually get a proper game. By the actual design of the game, Sims 4 is strictly a house builder. They have bait and switched all of us for years claiming they have gameplay, yet every new pack is missing the actual gameplay, or it's simply so broken that it's not even worth attempting to use at all.

I just realised. We might not like rabbit holes for stuff, but if we could get cutscenes for things like graduation, so they didn’t need to worry about filling a room with sims and stuff, just programming your sim to walk up to another sim and take a certificate and there’s chances of it going funny or bad or normal or great, that would be so cool. I keep saying I want cutscenes like the sims 2 ones back, because it made it feel like I was really telling a story, and this just came to mind and the idea is just so fun

Locker in the bathroom... might be for gym. Though the bathroom would usually be separated from the changing area where you can find the lockers, I can totally visualise having the changing room combined with the bathroom.

Personally I modified totally the auditorium to look like a gymnasium because I wanted more room on the actual high school plot Also career day was transformed to a school festival so that it looks more lively

While it uses a lot of packs (cough look for anad1us toggler cough), Katnet1c has uploaded a "Danish Highschool" that feels a bit closer to us europeans.

I made a massive one with a two story theater in it. Plus a ton more. I called it Ultimate Copperdale High because of how much I put in it.

The Japanese High Schools are very nice. The Japanese youtubers are fantastic builders.

This is what's bugging me about Sims content lately - you have to work to fix the game. Is it so much to ask that builds be aesthetically pleasing? I don't understand why they didn't have Simmers build the high school lot. There's all kinds of mods you can add to the game to make high school years work well/be more fun and realistic. But why? If you have to add mods anyway, why not just get the "get to school" or turbo careers mods that basically do what this pack does anyway?

I really want to buy this pack (on sale only of course) and build my high school I went to just because of the weird shape it was with a giant bridge overtop of a road with like 4 pillars holding it up…we called it the bridge of death (did I mention it was mostly windows)

The sims showing some amazing high-school and giving us the bare bones of a building is insane. I swear you can't do this?? That's literally false advertisement. Whilst I love seasons, I wouldn't buy any other pack because they're such a waste of money I could spend on my book addiction

I made a high school years and a base game only high School. Mine is art deco. Origin ID Simtastic. I also made something that I haven't seen any other simmer make, which is a boarding school. There are two dorm buildings. One for males one for females. I mean you could have both male or both female or whatever LOL. I made a place for a reception area if you have get to work, you can just remove front cafeteria door and sit the reception desk there and it will look fine. I try not to put too many objects because of lag also. I love simlessly and little simsy, and I think they did a great job as usual!

I dunno if you've ever had/been to a career day, but at least in my high school it was literally just a handful of sad tables set up in the "career center" (just kind of a sad... library/computer space? I never understood its existence tbh) and the hallway outside of the lunchrooms. In other words, the career day setup always looking pretty dismal seems 100% accurate!

I’m in the process of planning and mapping mine out. I think I’m gonna really go for that Art Deco look with the new build items they’ve given us, but only stick to the default swatch for the exterior (which is a sandy beige). I’m debating on whether or not I should add an accent color, either orange or the red-orange with green swatch. The thing is, with solely beige, it looks a bit boring, but with color accents, it gets very bold and almost circus-like. The interior will be the green swatch for sure, because for some reason, I just can’t think of the interior of Copperdale High being anything else but green 😂

One thing I have a gripe with is, these schools are modeled after American high schools, SO WHY DO THE CAFETERIA TABLES HAVE REMOVABLE CHAIRS!!?? I have never been to a school where it wasn't a bench/table combo. Cause.. ya know.. kids throw things! But that's what I always change, even when I place a better highschool lot. Its just more realistic for American high schools.

The EA school looks like a 1960's school. I use it but I totally made it over to look better.

It’s funny because of how different our stuff is in America compared to the British but almost the same… eh not really lol. In the 2nd build the chorus room is like spot on perfect and the cafeteria. I feel like build one is what a British school looks like and build two is most definitely American. Except the pool should be indoors and the classrooms waaaayyyy bigger. The teachers lounge and the front desk is so cute! Can’t wait to get my hands on this pack. Gonna replicate a mini version of McDowell (the high school I went too)

And I took the base game one and just improved it myself.. first floor, because I have a Mod to increase the number of students and double the server in the cafeteria, I added I think I got 6 tables of 6 chairs and the two server stations in the cafeteria.. the class rooms are at each end of the cafeteria and the lockers are out front of the class rooms and cafeteria.. and so are some bathrooms.. behind the cafeteria is the basketball court.. on the right side next to class room #2 is the principle office and the Staff Lounge.. on the other side next to class room #1 is the student Lounge with TV.. in the basement under the gym we have the Olympic size swimming pool, and then the computer room, the chess room, the janitors clean room and the work out room with the exercise equipment.. and more bathrooms and showers.. moving up to the 2nd floor, we have areas where students can learn skills with a music room with Pianos in it, next to that a study room with a study table and book shelves, next to that is a bigger room for more equipment biology, robotic wood working, archeology table, the micro scope, chemical analyzer, and chemistry lab.. then out on the roof there I have a big telescope.. another room the juice fizzer, the candle maker, flower arranger, and third floor, I got 4 beds.. sims do get tired from time to time, and its a good place where sims go and cry under the covers.. maybe they need a nap or whatever.. but 4 small bed rooms for rest.. two photo studios, another music room with guitars and violins, and microphones, and another room with lots of painting easels.. and for the cheer leaders, they got mats to work on their cheers both in the basement hallway and the third floor hallway.. and outside, I got two rocket ships that can be built by the students.. as well as some Cows, Llamas, Chickens, using debug, LOL and gardens to grow things.. just about everything you can think of that helps increase knowledge, its here, and this school functions like a well oiled machine.. kids have no problems getting around.. a few will use the basketball court.. and occasionally someone will use the pool.. so everything here does get used.. some things more then others... in the class rooms, I got a teachers desk with a lap top on it.. and 15 desks for students in class, and 4 more desks with lap tops in the back of the class rooms.. and book shelves on other side of the class room.. 5 desks wide 3 deep and then 4 desks wide with the lap tops in the back. and again, it functions perfectly.. and when classes start, the kids at the back on the lap tops get up and use the other desks for the class..

is there a way to override the school with this build? or no?

I kinda want someone to make a mod where there's more classes (and the classes are only 2 hours or less) and then you can have more subjects and actually choose which subjects your sims can have, and each class you have to do at least 1 task per class and if you get every task done in every class, you can become a A-student. I wish I could make mods lol😂, i have so many good ideas

I don't really understand their explanation for why EA builds are so empty. I am currently playing the Sims on a very old, very tragic laptop. I got it used in like 2018 for like $300 and somehow I am able to play my gigantic houses, filled to the brim with furniture and paintings and rooms for all 8 Sims in my family. I have every expansion pack besides pets, snowy escape and seasons(I want seasons but I've convinced myself that seasons will break my game lmao it's running all these EPs and loads of game & stuff packs & even some kits but I suspect the rain and snow fall would be too much for the poor dying HP laptop to handle) So yeah if my sad laptop can handle the game, I think the Sims team could have made the school slightly less empty without issue

I think the beginner-friendly Pc stuff is a lot of nonsense that some people are spreading. In my opinion, EA simply didn't want to take any risks after Sims 3. It was very buggy from the beginning and got worse with every pack. Ironically, Sims 4 also has a lot of problems. That's why I would like EA to use a well-tested engine for the new Sims instead of a custom engine again. But that will probably remain a dream...

The first school,I don't own most of the packs i olny have 5.bc i am a bit poor and here in portugal the packs are way more cheap are 39,99 for an expasion 19,99 for an game pack,sadly most of us can't bought things bc we don't get money enough so,i could olny effort 5 packs.

3:22 Is it not normal to have a changing room and showers at a school? They’re normally attached or near the gym. The lockers have different things in there to the normal hallway lockers.

People made some nice schools! That's the upside to TS4; you can always build it yourself. The only thing that can't be changed and what's really a downside to HSY is the gameplay. Why didn't EA make attending class a bit more interactive? I'll buy the pack in a sale(hope October?), mainly for the thrifting fashion gameplay.

When you said to get rid of the chess table, I realized you haven't actually played the expansion fully... Because there's no swim team or basketball team, there isn't even an american type football team (so there's no need for a gym), but there is a chess club. There is a computer club and daily tasks like "workout". Everybody forgets that the devs make crappy builds because it's a "build it better" game. They make crappy townie sims so you'll give them a makeover. Yeah, it's a dollhouse, but it's a dollhouse unique to you and your tastes. The commercial was showing you the potential, not the reality. Play with life.
