For me Brendan deserved the win because of the ridiculous line and Bien deserved second because of the ridiculous trick, where the judges got a 95.0 for Cam is beyond me, not to take anything away from him he’s still a great rider. I also think Kyle coming back after his crash last year deserves some recognition.

Watching Cam's run a 2nd time, it was more impressive than I initially thought. I also liked Bren and Bian's runs better, but Cam deserved to be up there. How did Brendog not make the podium !!!!! Never mind 1st…. I honestly don’t know what the judges are judging. Speed, technical difficulty, exposure, tricks, flair. ??? All these runs where crazy but there is reason why there was so much build up for brendogs line…. It was one of the most exposed, big, technical lines on the course, and not only did he nail it, he tricked it. 🤯🤯🤯. Number 1 in fans minds and hearts. 🙌

Brendog and Bienve 100000% should have been 1&2 in either order (imo). They were both nutty. The judging of these events never make an ounce of sense. I've kinda stopped watching Crankworx slopestyle events because I couldn't fathom some of their judging. It's frustrating as a viewer. I can't imagine how annoying it is for the competitors.

Could not agree more! These judges have NO idea what they are doing and it's apparent at this stage, they don't want Europeans to win, at all costs. I don't even know why they judge these things, they get it SOO wrong. SOO many riders that put down the best runs, didn't even podium. Yet riders who did 1-2 things well, while the rest of their run was vanilla and uninteresting won. It's SUCH a joke and ruins watching these events. Because you know the best runs aren't going to win. This seems to be a pretty common theme in almost all "Extreme Sports" events. The judges view things SOO differently from one another, even to event and year to year and there is never any cohesion or uniformity of how the rides or runs are judged. I know most of these guys probably don't even care, but for a lot of the rest of us and some of the athletes it does, and it RUINS watching these events. Watching a well made video of your favorite extreme athlete is a thousand times better than watching these rigged poorly judged events. BRENDOG, your run was INSANE! Was THE BEST and we can't thank you enough for doing such an amazing run. And especially at your age! Showing all the younger guys how it's done AND with gobs of style shows you are THE BEST.

Its kind of sad how a bunch of fans can seem to come to a majority agreement on the best run every year(Bienve and Bren this year), but the judges continue to be most impressed by the age and prior wins of the rider. I rarely make comments on judging but its really a problem with Rampage. Just feel for the riders. Putting their lives on the line for our entertainment and cant even be properly appreciated by the contest itself. Pathetic tbh

You know watching this back and listening to the commentary you realise that Zink won this event before it even began. No surprise that Fairclough turned down a second run, the fix was obvious with that score. You can bring entirely new stuff to that event, pull it off with style and try and move things forward but why bother risking your very life when they make it quite obvious that it's judged on very different criteria to what they say.

@suckieduckie He did 3 huge tricks back to back all on really large gaps. The difficulty to do all those the way he did was impressive. The rest of the competition had their tricks fairly spread out. He should have at least been in the top 5.

Zink may have got the win, but they will be showing Biene’s front flip for years to come. He will win this year in peoples memories. My only wish is that Godziek could have finished his line he was on form for sure. Brendon’s line was sick but Szymon rode the battleship so fast and clean and his combos were insane all the way down. He was on an absolute heater, hope he’s all good and can put it down next year

I mean, I get why Bienve didn’t win overall, but to say that front flip is nothing is ignorant, judges gave him best trick even. it is iconic and will be a highlight for years to come. Smooth jump with clean sight lines? Sure. But front flip landings are always blind, there is a reason he was the first to do it on that feature.

Rampage needs no judging, because everyone who builds and competes wins. Even Gee who showed up and gave his all (and I do mean almost all!). Having "winners" and a scale to reward "best" actually creates "worst" which doesn't exist here. Free this event from judging and let all the riders and builders stand together at the end to shower in the adoration of the fans for having pushed freeride further this year.
@jrive075

So everyone gets a trophy? 😆 i get what you’re saying but i disagree at the same time. No matter what, they are all winners in our book but they need to compete as it’s what drives sports and the spirit of competition in general. Just to say “I competed in rampage” is gnarly but to say “I’ve won rampage” is just a whole new level of gnarly. For us, no doubt all winners, but we need em to compete or it just becomes a showcase with no reward. At least that’s my opinion… that no one asked for 😆

@@jrive075 They're not really competing against one another. Their line is built based on what they think is possible, and their community discusses, works, and creates these lines based on this. So, it's not "everyone gets a trophy", it's more like no trophy is really necessary. The competition comes from within, and the cooperation between individuals who strive for the best they can do pushes the whole thing forward. The idea that any one of those individuals did not reach the highest level is an illusion, and rewarding 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc is not really representative of the reality. I'd rather see and celebrate the 54 people who dug and rode this out partying it up with one another as a community, than three people on a podium.

I think Rampage is about the flow, the speed, the attitude, challenging line choises and the big ballsy tricks rather than the slopestyle tricks (single crown tricks). Don`t get me wrong, I love slopestyle (I`m Swedish, go Emil go!). But I think MTB needs an event that is clearly separated from slopestyle and I think Rampage is that event… btw this Rampage was aaaawsome (despite of some single crown tricks 🤪) … I`m happy that the single crown tricks did not win. Congrats to Cam Zink 👏👏, however I think both Brendan and absolutely Bienvenido deserved better scores.

Let’s compare Bienvenido’s run to Tom van steenbergen’s run. Bienve and Tom Van Steenburgen both did a flat drop three at around the same height. Bienvenido had the best trick of the Comp while Tom van Steenburgen did a trick that’s let’s say is equal in difficulty because of exposure. Bienvenido does a Superman that Tom Van Steenburgen missed , and Bienvenido does a backflip going into the canyon gap. The flat drop backflip that Tom Van Steenburgen is more difficult than the backflip going into the canyon gap, but I’d say it’s equivalent to the backflip going into the canyon gap plus The extended Superman that Bienvenido did. I can’t see how B&B Nidos run isn’t at least on par with Tom Van Steenburgen’s run.
