That person would be Biden or Kamela. The French beat the far right because they did something called a “Republican front”. All the lefties and other liberals dropped out of the race so that they wouldn’t take votes from macron. What you’re describing is what America has been doing for the last few elections now, but I do agree with you that no matter who it is running against trump that we have to put up a front and vote for them. I’m not encouraged by Biden, but if he’s the candidate and he’s not stepping down we have to accept that he still has to win or we are all fucked and it’s going to be civil war. Republicans don’t have enough reach to take the whole country over in some fascistic theocracy. If they win and get their dictator, it 100% means civil war and potentially a permenant end to the United States of America and we will be back to a confederacy of states.

Not going to happen. No one else can get on the ballot. I live in the state that has the latest deadline to file to get on the Nov ballot. Most states filing deadlines were the end of March.

Hearing Americans say 'we're four months out' with a sense of urgency like the election is tomorrow is hilarious to the rest of the world. Most democracies have campaigns that last 1-3 months. In 2015 the federal campaign in Canada was 90 days and everyone was complaining about how long it was.

Man, watching the Majority Report lean even further into attacking Biden is really sad even though I could see it coming. Now, here we are, pretending that Biden is considering bowing out, even though he has said the opposite several times, & what's most bizarre is that all of people on the show are very educated & intelligent & even more aware of the various mechanics to the way our systems work. Even if Biden decided to end his campaign, how exactly would that work? Donations, election offices, staff, ads, changing EVERYTHING into an entirely new structure, at this point? And as far as we can see, polls don't suggest that any of the suggestions would make a dramatic difference, AND Biden got even more donations after his bad performance in the debate. Speaking from experience, there is a real danger in being very intelligent & building an audience of supporters, in that we can lose our ability to question ourselves eventually. Pretty soon we just feel so qualified, so smart, so clever, that we derail ourselves completely. And seeing all the comments, supporting this, & knowing that everyone on the show is fully aware of how often supporters don't really understand a lot of the details & just put their faith into the shows they like, there is a real danger of impacting this important election in a harmful way.

whether or not biden steps down, one thing to be optimistic about is more of the media now covering the full implications if not certainties of the damage "trump's project 2025" will do to american democracy, causing more voters to either lean left, or at least reconsider voting right.

Obama whiffed his first debate with Romney, but yeah - I want to either hear from people who DON'T have a horse in the race (either want their person to be on the new ticket, or are in Biden's camp) what the deal really is, or I want to see Biden in more "live action" settings. His rally after the debate was pretty solid. And while everyone's apoplectic because the clear threat Trump represents, Trump didn't exactly score really well in that debate either, and the media, mostly a pro-Trump camp because he ups their numbers, has been laser focused on "Biden old" rather than "Trump lies." I'd rather see Kamala at the head of the ticket, but anyone else is going to make the divisions of the Left in 2016 look like pattycake.

You don’t realize what you want is ranked choice voting at least for legislative bodies. You don’t realize it if you believe in a single truth, mutually exclusive, binary system. Widespread RCV could potentially lead to viable third parties, such as greens or labor, but also even libertarian or nationalist. But at the end of the day, that makes choices more clear and that’s what voters need, because the difference between republic and democrat is not very transparent even to longtime political observers

Some people are concerned that RCV would lead to “too much consensus” and perceive that as a threat to dissent, however, however, I disagree because truth exists along the entire political spectrum, but it becomes distorted, abused, and co-opted for power. They don't recognize that it's their OWN under confidence that is playing right into the Republican strategy to get Democrats to dump their winning candidate and increase Trump's chances of winning. Media is awash with cockeyed theories, fear mongering and mis information. It's insulting how low an opinion these people have regarding the intelligence of American voters. We voted in the primaries for our choice for a candidate. We voted for this candidate in spite of the medias' numerous reports of concerns over his age, his "frailness", his stutter, his sometimes quiet voice and concerns over cognitive abilities. We were NOT misinformed or mislead about the condition of our candidate as MR alledges. (By the way, note that MR does not exhibit the same alarm over being mislead regarding Donald Trump's health issues, which is the least of the issues of concern surrounding that candidate.) I resent MR for their efforts to overturn the will of Democratic voters in their selection of a presidential candidate. I don't believe it's within the medias' right to call for the removal of a candidate, especially based on a single performance in a debate. If it were, what candidate would EVER agree to a debate? MR needs to take a step back. My advice is they actually speak with the voters before they assume that the entire nation is calling for the removal of a candidate (especially when it ISNT Trump).

The thing that boils me is that THIS is the suggestion that progressives were making in 2020, and were gaslit about. People are generally happier when they're not hungry and more ingratiated to people who bring them food. The boss getting everyone pizza can be sign they're about to deliver some bad news and the pizza is to dampen the reaction. Politics and work places. That's not always the case, but other reasons aren't great either. If management is throwing a pizza party for their employees to show gratitude for their recent hard work, that usually means management just made a huge bonus and employees are basically getting scraps
