The Columbia professors put pressure on the president to keep the protests going and NOT shut down the protests. After Columbia Univ's president called the NY police to put an end to it, the professors called for the resignation of Columbia Uniiv's president for violating their 1st amendment rights. So watching Speaker Mike Johnson in Congress backing other representatives calling for the resignation of the univ president for letting it go on too long, Johnson was playing both sides.

An interesting possibility to cover the costs: Anyone convicted of crimes related to the protest gets one share of the costs the more that are convicted the more distributed the cost will be which gives them incentive to turn in others especially those who have done the worst things who could potentially get 2,3 etc shares or something like that that way they end up paying less but the overall cost is born by those who caused it. Thoughts?

We are past calling them "protesters".😏 Now, it's not strange for donors to support protests. In this case, it won't hurt or help this Administration. Additionally, those students involved in these vandalism, riots, illegal acts should be the ones to pay for the damages they caused. Add the cost to their tuition. They also shouldn't be allowed to get grants, scholarships and student loan forgiveness/ cancelation. Their behavior is unacceptable and despicable.
