lmao dude... I think the straw method can go in the over-engineered category.

I agree 😂

great technique! transplanting the seedlings has always been a challenge, until now! There's potential to get it to work smoothly.

Yes, it works but with problems. When you make a hole with a pipe in one point, on the other side, the substrate will rise. Unless you use a compressible organic substrate. I now pre-moisten the substrate and make holes with a paint brush or pencil, with the size of the plants. Soon I will make a new video with seedling reepotting.

Great video! How often do you water the little guys or do you just mist?

Thank you! I water as soon as the substrate dries. In summer, when the temperature rises too high, I water when the upper part of the substrate dries out. I only spray on newly sprouted plants, as continuing to do so will encourage the plants to root horizontally rather than deep into the ground.

Hi, thanks for the videos! They are very helpful. I saw in your video on sowing from seeds that you use a 50% organic substrate for seeds. How about repotting after 6 mths like this video, what percentage of organic matter do you use at this stage? Do you reduce the organic matter every time you repot? And what would the final amount be when they are older? 20% organic? Thanks

Hi, with each new sowing I have been experimenting with different mixtures. This seedbed with 50% mineral had some problems, not related to the substrate, which made me lose some plants, but the ones that survived are excellent, bigger than others two years older. I will definitely use this ratio going forward. When I repot them, and I'll have to do so soon, I'll use the same formula on the smaller ones and increase the mineral percentage a little on the larger ones. I usually have mature plants only in mineral, but as I repot them, I've started to add a little bit of organic. In these few years that I've been growing, I've come to realize that, with the weather conditions I have, I can do it. But the oldest plant I have is in 100% mineral substrate and it is excellent. I only add liquid fertilizer to the irrigation water 3 or 4 times a season. I don't like spherical plants shaped like balloons.

I forgot to add that my seedlings are all indoors with winter heating and artificial lighting. So, I can water weekly. The drier and warmer the environment, the more organics you can use because the substrate will not be saturated for long. Good ventilation is also important.

Thanks for the answer! Just to clarify, what are the percentages of mineral and organic in the soil mixture in this particular video? i.e. at this stage of growth? I usually start my seeds in 50% organic mix but when they first get potted up I am still unsure of the percentage of organic to use. Thanks!

@@MrGreenpauloI don't remember for the plans in this video, I probably must have noted it somewhere, but I must have used maybe 20%. Now I regret not having used more organics because the last ones I sowed are already relatively bigger than these. In addition, I now water much more often. At first I was much more cautious, due to lack of experience. By the way, two days ago I watered my larger plants for the first time since autumn. I hope to post some videos soon. I've been a little unlucky, my pro monitor broke down some weeks ago and I have been unable to edit. I should receive the new monitor I bought tomorrow... 🤞
