Republic Services Rapid Rail in Santa Ana

Finally filmed in Santa Ana! Interesting circumstances for being able to film this. I was on my way home from dropping off my parents at the airport before 7 AM on the Saturday after Labor Day, and I ended up driving through Santa Ana's Friday route. I thought the city had all 520 ZRs for residential, so I wasn't planning on filming anything. However, I immediately saw an ACX Rapid Rail down a street, so I tracked it down, and it was a driver and truck that used to sub in Brea! I was happy to see Francisco again, and I'm sure he was very surprised to see me lol. Republic Services began in Santa Ana severely understaffed, so a handful of Anaheim yard drivers got routes down there recently, and Francisco was 1 of them. I've been wanting to film in Santa Ana since Republic Services started there, but I didn't expect it to be this soon, nor did I expect to find a Rapid Rail lol. This was a great surprise to start the day. I only followed Francisco down 2 streets since I wanted to get back to my city to see the garbage day in my neighborhood. Thanks! Only Rapid Rail in SA that I know of since Anaheim bought a fleet of ZRs for the contract.

These Rapid Rails are much more entertaining then a ZR. Especially gripping Q-Series. So this was fantastic!

Thanks! This is the only Rapid Rail that I know of in Santa Ana, since Republic bought a fleet of new ZRs for the city.

nice find for this area! looks like these sqare ssi's dont do too well with the RR grips.

Thanks! Yeah they don't, good thing the new trucks are ZRs cause the Q Series work well with the ZRs.

I've never understood why Republic decided that the Q Series SSI's were a great option, since they're not built to handle rapid rails. Its funny how they're shaped similar to that of the toters CR&R use. Great video though!

Thanks! Republic is buying ZRs for new trucks which can handle the Q Series a lot better. Just not the best for many of their OC contracts which still have a lot of Rapid Rails.

I actually think I either saw 2842 or 2843 in my neighborhood recently, and 2406 was there too! It was very difficult to film though because they were both there at once. And even worse it was in the tiny part of the neighborhood!

Ah okay, it was probably 2842 cause that guy took Francisco's route. He will probably help out there, or do yard waste like Francisco used to, whenever JC is pulled for another route on Thursdays.

how the hell do these carts comply with the new color coding regulation California has?

With the new law, the whole cart can be green, black/gray, or blue, or just the lid.

Oh interesting, Q Series are pretty standard for Republic right now. I don't mind them but Rapid Rails don't work well with them lol.

@@GarbageTruckVideography Yeah They like SSI for some reason the 32s remind me of a otto but the 64 is M Series since they did not make a Q Series 64. the 90s are meh I was using one today for green waste, I have 4 of the old color ones.

Yeah the 32s remind me of Ottos as well, I guess SSI is Republic's current preference for carts.
