N+ would be fine. CCNA is a harder examine, more hands on the tech itself and is specialized to cisco hardware. A good chunk of the exam is actually configuring virtualized cisco network routers. Really nothing to do with direct security there. I wouldnt invest time/money in CCNA unless you were going to be very hands on network security person (working at a Ciscoshop business). Sec+ is where I'd start. Alot of people will say get networking+ first than security but i didnt and I was fine ( I have a cmpsci bg though so your exp may differ). Having said all that, the N+ cert wont do much for you other than convey to interviewers that you should know networking concepts. Actually knowing them and folding them into your responses (and your actual work) is where the value shines. Best wishes/

@@phabeondominguez5971 haha I actually forgot all about this. But to answer your question I only read through a cisco networking technologies book and was able to apply the knowledge to my job. I'm an application administrator so I really just need to understand some networking along with common ports such as dhcp, static ips, ssh, ftp,sftp,https that was enough for me. I think knowing the information was critical bc I was able to secure a very good pay raise since last year. Good luck!

It really depends on your career goals and urgency for money. College degree should give you a more grounded, wider exposure to the field, but costs money/takes time. It will help long term, but if you get certs and compliment your resume with labs you should be able to get access to the same opportunities. i have / had (dont maintain it) CCNA. I dont think its needed for infosec. CCNA is super focused on how cisco networks work, and while you do learn about different routing and resiliency and such, i think you can get more value puttting your time elsewhere, sepcially if you have network+.

AI will help make our ability to respond faster, but wont replace humans. Threat actors are humans and they can be clever and trick tooling. Humans will use tooling (and AI) to be more efficient and timely in response.
