You don't use gasoline and fire to make a model volcano erupt. You use baking soda and vinegar. And you also use red food coloring to put in the vinegar to make it look like volcanic lava.

This story reminds me of a friend who i never felt comfortable asking what happened to him. My BFF and him dated and though hes a deadbeat hes the father of her kids. He had messed with a junker truck his dad was fixing or something but he was burned and scarred all over from his graphs. He was around this boys age when it happened. I almost had to check the locations as the family here and his look so much alike.

@futuremrslachiver I know it's an old comment but you're absolutely right about panic and shock freezing you up. Some 911 dispatchers will tell you that they get adults so panicked that they can't even remember their adress or anything they just scream and say I don't know. It's easy for us watching to say oh grandma was an idiot but none of us really know how we would react.

for burn wounds like that you don't want to give them anything that could cause them to quit breathing or that would hurt the wounds it's a very fine line of what you can do for wounds like that

Keep in mind this was a while ago. Now paramedics most likely would give pain meds, at least where I work.
@mikec2197
@mikec2197 7 жыл бұрын
Exactly, it really all depends on medical direction for each response area. Some places paramedics can do a lot, others they can't do much of anything.
@mikec2197
@mikec2197 7 жыл бұрын
And it also depends on the patients condition. If the patient has a really low blood pressure or they aren't breathing effectively for example, we are going to worry about fixing those life threatening problems first, and worry about pain second.

It shocking that only Jacob and the boy's mom knew what to do. The other adults were seemingly clueless as they panicked. The grandma became paralyzed and just stood there. It shouldn't take a mother's instinct to call 911 in this kind of situation. I'm glad that Jacob was taught in school about stop, drop, and roll.

Panic can make you stupid. 911 dispatchers get adults who don't even remember their adress because they're so worked up. So grandma just froze from shock. Joe Dirt handed his neighbor his burned screaming son over the fence and the other dad stood there holding him til his wife snapped him out of it likely because they were also in shock.

I remember seeing this in 1990, and as a boy of twelve years, I was saddened and angry at the same time. Those two boys knew not to play with matches, but they did it anyway. They knew right from wrong and they went against the rules, which lead to young Cale Parker's severe burns. God I feel for him because I know how bad burns feel. I was burned in summercamp when I was 8.5 years old. This was a summercamp run by an agency for the blind and visually impaired, and it was a "self-help" camp in Lexington, Nebraska. They, the half-wits who ran the joint, should have known better than to insist that an 8.5-year-old blind child carried his own bowl of scalding soup to the table. So there I was, and half-way to my table, "bam!" I ran into this other blind boy, and my bowl spilled on me. Thank God above the other boy didn't sustain a single burn. I got it bad; I was burned about the chest and belly: 1st, 2nd, and damn near 3rd degree burns. So I feel for you, Cale. Shortly after the bowl spilled on me, the head councilor, George, called my mother, and his only fricking concern was being sued. I can still hear him blubbering as he talked to Mom on the phone: "Boo hoo, Norma, Jake was burned! You're gonna sue me!" She should have.

Thats what I did. When my oldest was 4, we moved into a new house. I was 6mthd pregnant and couldn't clean the house as well as I wanted to before getting out things in. My son found a lighter in a closet that was left behind from previous owner We had only stayed one night when he found it. I had noticed a burned straw, a balloon, and a small area on the changing table meant for new baby. After I figured out what happened I showed my son images of burned children... not the completely bad ones but bad burns on arms and such. He was only 4. For my son...he loved animals..so showing that really worked.

So the kid asks if he is in trouble and the parents have no idea what to even do. I think the kid is in enough trouble, fighting for his life, going through months and months of painful surgeries and physical therapies. Honesty the kid learned his lesson I am pretty sure he won't soon forget. The way I figure it, this is punishment enough, both for him and his friend.

Lmao and the gas can on fire that everyone ignored. I assume the fire department took care of it or it was just done in the reenactment for drama and suspense like omg the can is going to blow up type of thing but didn't happen in the real incident.

The way they set this up was so realistic, dirty clothing and grubby fingers, like every little kid at that age, it is important to teach kids about fire and flammables, you can teach children as young as 2 about fire, I think they should have every school from daycare to grade 8 about fire twice a year

Gasoline containers like that ought to come with a lock on them so they can't be opened for use without a key.

I seen comments saying they blame his clothes polyester for his burns and erase the fact he was playing with fire and gasoline even if he had jeans and heavy jacket on instead of his polyester pants and hoodie he still would have been burned no matter what if he wasn't playing with fire he it wouldn't have happened plain as simple don't play with fire I wear basketball shorts around campfires often they are made from polyester never once has my shorts caught on fire polyester near fire is safe as long as your not being stupid don't blame the clothing blame the boys they were not being smart. If I was playing with fire ended up catching my pants i am wearing which are polyester on fire I wouldn't blame my sweatpants I would Blame myself for not being safe I wouldn't blame Adidas ether not there fault that my pants caught on fire I would be my fault for being stupid.

I know this is an old comment but probably just lucky enough that he got blown away from the explosion and his friend didn't.
