Do you know Kitten Lady? She's a kitten rescuer with a big KZfaq channel, and I'm reading her book at the moment about fostering kittens. She says there that it's really a pitty when people foster fail. She has saved hundreds of cats, and had she had foster failed instead they would all be dead now. She said we need to foster win, but that nowadays many people are pressured by their friends to fail. I suppose something like "That animal is soo cute, and you've spent so much time together. How can you give it up now? That's so cold". Kitten Lady concluded that loving an animal means wanting the best for it, i.e. not keeping it when it's not a good idea, but giving it to others who will care about it a lot. This way you as a foster can give your love to a new life that would otherwise be lost, so it can have a great future too. This means that I hope that despite Pani getting adopted, her mum will continue fostering, otherwise it would not be a perfect ending in my opinion. Yeah, it's great for Pani that she has a good owner now, but if her mum quits fostering because of adopting her that would be a sad thing in a country like the US where a million dogs and cats are killed every year because they can't find a home. No hate, just another perspective!

Kitten Lady, while having done amazing things since she was a teen, has no right to judge other people and their motivation. What works for her doesn't have to work for everyone. She doesn't say what to do when there are no applications for months and years, for instance. I bet it doesn't happen often to a famous KZfaqr rescuing kittens (young animals find home the fastest). I bet there are people who want bragging rights because they have adopted a "Kitten Lady's" kitten. Perhaps some foster parents realize that keeping the dog IS the best idea because there is a strong bond and the dog loves them. Maybe sometimes it's cruel to uproot a traumatised animal that thinks it has found its home already. One also wonders about a special needs' dog. You need someone who is basically willing to be a low key nurse for an animal for the rest of its life and pay the medical bills. How many such people are there, really? Everybody has free will, is all I' m saying. Whether to adopt or adopt out, whether to continue fostering or not.

Great story love the ending but, did anyone else notice the dog that was in the cage with her ? It looked like it was in worse condition than this dog . ! I hope someone is helping that dog also .! 😢

Me too ;) Whom is "foster" mom kidding ? Of course she is going to keep the cutie. it is incredible how fast the little dog moves with the wheels, I would expect her to feel a little discomfort. The harness must be very well padded or she would get sore.

Near to the end of this video the woman named Tedi - is saying that she got worried that someone else was going to adopt the dog ? I do not get that part - I thought that the woman already had adopted the little dog - named PANI - and it was a great match ! Why then was she saying she was worried that Pani was going to be adopted ? - Will some one please explain to me this !

My family has always fostered animals, and it's really good to be able to find homes for them so you can take in more fosters who need you. The more homes you find, the more animals you can help. But I am a regular foster failure. Right now I have two of my 'temporary fosters' who've become permanently adopted fur-kids watching me type this comment. No regrets.

How can it be called a foster fail when the animal is so loved by her new owner mom? I would call that a complete success. That poor dog would have had her brains scrambled if she had gone to a new family.

I can’t understand what people hurt ANY creatures. Human beings may be smart, but they have a long, long way to go emotionally and spiritually.

The dog lived on the street, and could have been run over by a car.

Remember, we don't know if the pup was hurt on purpose or if it was accidental. But I do agree with you tho, i don't understand how anyone could hurt a creature that only wants to be loved and cares more about their person than themselves. Dogs really are humans best friend.

Yes, to think that Pani was so anxious and afraid, he couldn't sleep. Heart breaking.

I said the same thing when it got to the part in the video explaining… And I said oh honey, you know because we don’t know what she went through we only have an idea but it had been horrible. I had a dog that had been through such trauma for two years she slept like the Sphinx statue, making sure that on her feet were still touching the ground as she slept. It took her so she was about eight years old till she started grooming herself. I got her when she was about just under a year old. I loved her and took the best care of her than I could until the end of her days. Do you know what made her not want to sleep laying down for those first two years , But I’m not gonna go into details because I know there are a lot of dog lovers on here and it might hurt someone to hear about it. But just know she was loved and she really loved her brothers 💛🐾😇

100 percent of rescued dogs go through a rescue night sleep. Once they know they are safe and don't have to stay awake for protection, they absolutely crash. Sometimes for days. This poor girl because she was paralyzed had even more fear. Hurts my heart deeply. What a wonderful story. As a rescuer I'm not terribly find of foster fails because it can limit how much the foster can then do. But gotta be happy about this one. That little dog is a doll❤️

@@lucyhanna5172 i got one from romania she was 6 months old and was so scared than i bought an German Shepherd puppy with so much self-confidence that she rly learned fast 2 trust and gain self-confidence the bought puppy was not from a breed it was an 1 time breed

Even though this is a cat, it was free and was so more affectionate and self confident then the ones that cost money

We shouldn't strive to foster fail, but to foster win, meaning successfully adopting a pet out, so you can take on a new foster and give it all your love. Kitten Lady (a famous kitten fosterer with a KZfaq channel) says in her book that had she foster failed, the hundreds of kittens she saved from euthanasia would be dead now. She also writes that people nowadays often pressure others to foster fail, while what animals really need are people who foster win!

@@solar0wind She can still take in another dog for short term (in New York she might not have the space to keep 2 dogs). I think scared dogs relax earlier when they see another dog that completely trusts the human. That is a very strong testimonial. One dog in the household also helps with training a foster dog and testing if it gets along with other dogs. Or with training them to get along with other dogs. When they are new and not extremely agressive they might ease into being friendly with other dogs. The established dog will take the lead for some time.

@@solar0wind I think that is the first dog _that she kept._ They called her and asked her if she was in for a challenge, she likely had fostered dogs before anyway, just not one that was disabled. A rescue org or shelter would not necessarily call a rookie to foster a dog with a spine injury.

@@xyzsame4081 Well, if she still has capacity for fostering and manages to adopt most animals out to loving families, then yes, it wouldn't be a problem. The problem is when people can't let go of their fosters and because of that stop fostering. I mean even Kitten Lady kept 2 cats of the hundreds of kittens she cared for. But one of them was her first foster in total and the other one was returned to her and got along really well with her other cat, so she decided to keep her forever!
