Rescuing ZODGROG WORTSNAGGA! for Warhammer 40K

Welcome to 2021!! It seriously feels amazing that it's been another year, and before we really start down the long path of caked on paint and broken minis, lets take a minute to breathe and appreciate that 2020 is literally hindsight. This week I decided to take a look at this super old Runt Herder for the ol Ork army. My original idea was to take some squigs into battle, but I don't think that will be possible. The good news though, the little tiny gitz will be able to join the army! I am currently on the lookout for some squads of the little guys to go with this model, I have the 1, but at a minimum I probably need at least 20. We'll get there eventually, but for now, please enjoy Zodgrod Wartsnagga!

Well, I guess I’ll be getting a tattoo here in the next week or so lol. Thanks for getting that number to 2000 in less than 8 hours!!! I’m honestly stunned, i wasn’t exactly expecting that lol. I’m gonna go make a few phone calls so I can make sure my cameras will be allowed in, should make for a fun time :) thanks again everyone!

Here's the lore on Zodgrod from the second edition Ork codex. He began by herding Snotlings for a mek to fire from his Shokk Attack Gun. Angry at how his herd was so used, one battle he stuffed the mek into his own gun and fired it at the enemy! Leaving that tribe behind Zodgrod and his Runts found an ancient tome of the writings of famed Runtherd philosopher Narflung, whose teachings he used to create 'Super-Runts'. From there he hired out his training services to any Warboss that would have him. Love the work you did on old Zod! Can't wait to see a whole herd of Grots under him!

Could always convert some old squig riders into the grot mob, would add some added height to some of the minis and squigs are always so full of character themselves. And a +1 to the Tattoo goal, here's hopin' 2021 is if nothing else a good year for minis.

Thank you so much! I just based a large mini with inks through my air brush and then went to highlight and pulled up some ink, I immediately thought of this video and stopped what I was doing and placed down some gloss varnish. I wouldn't have known to do that without this video. It saved the whole project.

Yeah, I have the newer runtherd model with the ork pet, but I was hoping for some serious squigs in 40K. On the other hand I could use orks with guns attached to them as Gretchen Proxies or something 😂

Love the work on the bone. I picked up a Zodgrod Wortsnagga to use in a grot mob army. Lore wise he was kicked out of the snakebites for shooting a Mek that was abusing gretchin through a Shokk Attack Gun. He went on to make some gretchin called super-runts and got work as a freebooter.

Zodgrod began his unusual career as a Slaver in Ugulhard Duffgruntas 'Chargerz', a reactionary tribe of Snakebites with a relatively high level of technology. It fell on Zodgrod to take charge of Snotlings destined for the Chargerz Shokk Attack Gun. Zodgrod managed to train his Snotlings to a high degree and before long his 'Kommando Runts' became famous in local greenskin circles. However, Zodgrod became fanatically protective of his simple-minded trainees, a situation that reached a bloody conclusion when Zodgrod lost his temper with the Mek who operated the unpredictable Shokk Attack Gun, an incident which resulted in the Mek being (fatally) fired through his own weapon. Zodgrod was banished from the Chargerz once battle was done, the Slaver's reckless actions nearly costing Duffgrunta's Orks their victory. Zodgrod went wandering throughout the galaxy, accompanied by his retinue of snotlings living as a Freebooter on the fringes of Ork Society. Somewhere on his travels he unearthed the philosophies of a Runtherd philosopher known only as 'Narflung'. Narflung had performed experiments with Gretchin, training them to become 'Super-Runts'. The techniques in question involved a great deal of bell ringing and the promise of a prime, juicy Squig. In no time at all Zodgrod had created his own Super-Runts, a new breed of Gretchin who outperformed their lesser brethren on the battlefield displaying increased aggression, cunning and bravery. Many, more traditionalist, Orks believe that these Super-Runts represent a threat to the delicate balance of Ork Society. Nevertheless, there are always desperate Warbosses reckless enough to hire Zodgrod and his 'elite' fighting force.

I think squigs make perfectly acceptable grot proxies, especially if you graft shootas on them. I think a squig is still a better shot than orks.

I’ve got an Ork Combat Patrol still on the spru. Have another project in progress but afterwards, this guy inspired a scheme for the Ork CP…HeadShop Orks. They were a faction that mutated when they got trapped on a planet that was the galactic wear house for Spencer's. This caused their skin to turn light purple. And the metal of their armor is flouecent green but painted black edge highlights of green and flouecent yellow. Have I gone around the bend here??

I recommend cutting down the parchment paper more. The bits curling up at the end will dry up and stay the paper curling which causes more to dry out, etc. The parchment should be a little smaller than the sponge.

Runtherds can have an attack squig. I believe they use it to keep the Gretchin in line. If a unit comprised entirely of Gretchin fails a Morale test while it is within 3" of any friendly Runtherd model with a squig hound, ignore the result. D3 models from the unit are slain instead.

I was gonna comment to dare you to do a mini without an airbrush for use without such tool, but you did it anyways. BTW, for the wet pallet, if your parchement paper tends to curl up, it's because one side is wet (sponge side) while the other is dry. You can wet the parchment paper a bit to stop it from doing so, and then wipe it with some flat object to remove any excess moisture (I use the side of my dry pallet).

That’s certainly a possibility, and I’d be fine with that, but I was hoping to use them for real. There’s some other squad of guys that can take squig bombs, squigs with bombs attached to them (probably a super awesome and easy conversion), I might go with that option later on.

I am new to your channel, and I am sure you have answered this a million times. How do you remove citadel primer from plastic? Super clean, simple green, break fluid gets the paint off but not the primer.
