My 2010 Mazda 5 is regularly serviced by one of the big nationals, I have never had a problem with them, this is not a criticism of the service I have received over many years. Before retirement, the car used to have regular motorway runs and I never had a problem, but recently, it started to go into limp mode, usually a quick blast would clear it, we now use Wynnes DPF cleaner, (Usually around 1 bottle for every 5-6 tank fills), the problem has never happened again. However, yesterday, we were around 100 miles from home (after doing long stints on the motorway) when the DPF light started flashing (it has not done this before, it always came on solid) the car got us home with NO loss of power. This morning I found this video, was a bit skeptical but tried it.....IT WORKED...1st time, thanks Alan, the instructions were spot on

Many thanks Alan. After I stopped using Mazda dealers to service my Mazda 5 the DPF light showed. It seemed unlikely as I do high mileage much on motorways. After sourcing many expensive solutions I came on your video. I was incredulous and very apprehensive, but it worked immediately. Now at 95000 miles on it came again and again it proved a 2 minute job to clear it You have saved my many hundreds of pounds!!

It works for us ,DPF started flashing on the high way but we tried with the wire and the light disappeared .Thanks a lot Alan .

To set the record straight I have no mechanical or electrical background. I'm just a bloke who was hacked off with a car manufacturer and its servicing team who perpetuated this dpf light scam. Most of you, like me, faced the anxiety of an expensive repair or a potential complete loss. I phone Mazda in Barcelona when I got this light flashing and since the explication was not convincing me I started looking on the web... it took me less than five minute to get rid of the problem and to know that Mazda was cheating me. Absolutely great! Many thanks!

Perfect fix for our Mazda 5 Sport Nav. A length of speaker wire and a crocodile clip is all it took. Crazy that the DPF light acts as a service light. Makes you think the worst until you find a great post like this that resolves the issue first time and saves £85 at Mazda for a service reset.

This worked perfectly for me today. DPF light was flashing. 2 mins later after following this video, the light is off. Thank you Alan! By the way, the top right wire is the green wire - I think someone asked that in one of the posts. Thanks again!

Thank you Alan, you've saved my day! I was at a Ford garage as I do not have a Mazda dealer nearby, they've regenerated the diesel exhaust filter with a Ford program (this works as in the old days when Mazda was partly owned by Ford) but the light kept flashing and I also had full engine power. When I've found your video and thought this could be the reason that no resetting was done after the oil change. Best regards from the Netherlands!

This Works! My dad's DPF light came on after a cam belt change on his '06 Sport with very low mileage. I was surprised as whenever I get my hands on his car I can 'cane it' to make sure that the DPF is clear; he being in his 70's and not the Fittipaldi he once was! ;-) Having reset the DPF light I added a full tub of Redex Diesel treatment and took it for another good caning. It now runs better than my '09 version of the same! Thanks for the tip! Particularly as the garage couldn't reset it and didn't know this fix! :-()

Thankyou for taking the time to share this. I had an independent service recently at our local, no Mazda near me, and car gets regular good runs etc so I was confused why the light started flashing - your instructions put it right and all still running as it should!

Thank you so much for your video, will ask my husband to give it a try tomorrow as our DPF light has been flashing for ages and we knew the fact that it wasn't the DPF, as we do regular motorway drives and we only had our DPF replaced last year. And if it was the DPF then, from our experience the car should lose power which it did last time. Thank you for your sharing.

Hi Alan many thanks for this video. Worked a treat! Just worth mentioning to others trying these, you need to pump the accelerter rapidly after the 6th 7th pump the glow plug symbol light comes up, after the 10th pump turn the ignition off and on again and bingo. Many thanks!

Dreaded 'flashing' DPF light came on 1 week ago. Took for blow out on motorway, light stayed on. Knew it wasn't oil, as recently changed. No engine hesitation or limp mode. Took round friends today, who ran Snap-on diagnostics. Picked up DPF failed regency, and service interval (couldn't clear fault, kept returning). Remember seeing this a while ago. Apprehensively thought I would give it a go. WOW, thank you. Light went out. Took for a drive, light stayed out. Will take on longer drive tomorrow and get some DPF cleaner. Thanks a lot for your advice. Have found out the Mazda in their wisdom also use this light a service interval/oil counter (anything to get you to get to them to get light turned out).

Gilberto, I'm not sure what your question is ? After removing plastic cover as shown in video you should see 6 electrical inputs (2 rows of 3). A wire is inserted into top right input at one end and connected to battery or earth. Hope this helps. Thanks for everyone's comments.

Connect your wire with the green wire in the plug. It`s not necessarily the top right point in the plug where the green wire is placed.

Yep, this really work. Mazda 5 2010 2td. That is stupid move from Mazda use dpf light as service needed indicator. Does they wanna broken my dpf because car require oil change? Dpf light flasing mean oil change needed if it start flash right away without continues light on. Mean while dpf light blink car power is lower than normal (=protech dpf) and regeration can't started. What if I'm middle of nowhere when light start blink because oil change is needs? They say from Mazda that it is allowed drive 500km mean while light blink. After that regeneratin is needed. If you drive more than 500km then there is a risk broken your dpf.

Glad to save some money to pay for the uneven tyre wear on my 2009 Mazda 5, - and new shock absorbers after 46k miles (never had a car need new shock absorbers before). Otherwise a good car and better now I don't ever need to visit a Mazda dealer for a reset again.

Pour enlever le voyant dpf clignotant sur ma Mazda 5 diesel. 1 Brancher un fil electrique au connecteur coté fils vert. 2 brancher l'autre extrémité au - de la batterie. 3 mettre le contact sans démarrer 4 appuyer 5 fois fort sur l' accélérateur. 5 dans mon cas le voyant de la bobine d allumage c'est mis a clignoter. 6 couper le contact 7 débrancher le fil electrique.

Thanks for the information/video. I have a 2015 Mazda 6 2.2 SkyActive Diesel with this problem. The Fuse Box looks different on this model to this video. Which fuse component should I be putting wire into on these models? Anybody have any ideas? Or does anybody know the name of the component that is being plugged into in this video? I can then find that name in the layout plan of my cars fuse box. Thanks.

Lo he probado y Se apaga pero después de 100km se encendió otra vez y el coche ha perdido la potencia, tuve que llamar a la grúa y en mazda 200€ por limpiar la válvula EGR y regenerar el DPF para limpiarse lo, tardo dos horas y media. Así que mi consejo cuando empieza parpadear la luz DPF buscar taller mazda mas cercano, eso que se apaga la luz no soluciona nada solo te puede llevar a problema mas gordo, menos mal que no entre en Francia y era viernes por la tarde.
