That feels SO right... Music and sounds aside, I think the proper choice of shades and colors does the trick. Even if the rooms and general layout were completely different, looking at this palette my brain would still recognize RE1/2/3 vibes. Something CAPCOM has totally missed in their remakes, unfortunately. Good work!

Seeing this in 3D makes you appreciate how on point the art direction was in that 2D background era. There is something so charming and timeless about the aesthetic of these early RE games that the newer titles simply don't even bother trying to capture.

@@ManiacMayhem7256 I'm glad you pointed that out, I remember the orphanage, and even the streets running up to it, being the closest at invoking that classic RE aesthetic in the modern remakes. My dream game would be a "escape from raccoon city" online MMO where players spawn in the city as a random civilian, and have 2 hours to get out of the city before the Nuke goes off. No respawning, no saves, and if you escape, you can bring what you escaped with into the next raid or stash it like in escape from tarkov.

Shinji Mikami originally wanted to have Resident Evil as a first person survival horror game, which was finally realized for RE7 and RE8. This WIP shows how it all would have looked had Capcom went with the first person perspective as originally intended, and I'm liking it so far. Don't get me wrong: I can't play the original RE2 anymore as the remake has spoiled me to it, but I'd be down to play this first person version of the OG RE2.

Definitely needs a FOV slider, ability to turn head-bob off, and maybe the hand/gun models shrunk down a bit. Super cool proof of concept, though.

This is a great combination of two things I really love. FPS and oldschool RE. The bookcase falling down and the helicopter exploding when you approach it were nice touches.

this might look really cool with a slightly wider FOV, a forced lower resolution, some texture warping, flatter lighting and blockier models for the player's hands/weapons otherwise this is really awesome! you seriously preserved the colours and vibes of the environment especially :)

Such a faithful recreation! I used to play the demo over and over to try and get a bit further everytime before the time runs out - so the first 10 minutes of the game really holds a special place in my heart.

Unless you played these when they first came out words can't describe where they take my mind back to just seeing the scenes and hearing the amazing music score / sound effects. Back to a time of no adult stresses and pure gameplay with the curtains drawn. If they produced this I would buy it!

I keep coming back to this because I am dying to play this in VR I hope that it gets a way to be able to do that. Resident evil 2 was the first game of that era I ever beat on my own and it's been my favorite game ever since.

This is very very good. Just few suggestions in a good way: 1. Mute the foot sound or an option to turn off. 2. Have an option of turn off all enemies so some people just want to visit the locations in peace and quiet. 3. Put a commentary option and put highlight spot on a certain location to tell some history behind of a structure, kinda like those tourist pre recording. Many thanks.

This is so awesome man. A few of us were jist talking about games, like Organ Quarter, bringing PS1 era graphics in 3d levels. I cant wait for this, RE2 is my fav game in tje series. I loved the remake, but I miss the OG. This is a perfect balance.

HoIy fск man, ive been waiting for this for DECADES. I was always dreaming with being able to play Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 0, CV and the Outbreaks like Resident Evil 4... but not like the Remakes, the OG in 3rd or 1st person, i always loved the atmosphere and the look of those old games and my dream was always being able to look at all of that like this and not with the original stuck camera.

The textures are spot on, including the texturing errors (stretched, odd tiling). My guess is that the author(s) used some kind of software that transposes multiple views of a location into a 3d model. Nowadays, everything is possible. I'm probably stating the obvious here, but it's still mighty impressive so I nod to that :)

I think the scale is a too small, the streets should be a little broader. The alleys should be claustrophobic, but not too narrow.

I have an idea for an endless runner type of game, "Resident Evil: Bloodline". So you get to select two characters from the roster, one being in pursuit and the other who will be chased. Each chase match begins with intro banter similar to Mortal Kombat 11. Every match will have a specific objective for the one being chased. Zombies and various mutants can also be deployed as obstacles. And please, NO CROSSOVERS.
