I'm a huge resident evil fan, it's my most played game franchise. The gaming community mostly hates these movies for not being canon. But I think these movies are super fun and I love Milla Jovovich personally. I watch these to be entertained and I own them all.

@tylerwilliams3779 plus there are some moments where you can clearly tell Anderson is familiar with the games. They did almost a shot-for-shot recreation of one of the Chris/Wesker fights from RE5 in Afterlife

The guys who made the game were worried the movie might spoil the game for players, so they asked the movie writers to make up a new story instead of following the game story.

The only reason it's ok TBH. They gave their blessings. Good enough for me to not consider the RE films as disrespectful to the RE Games I usually hate when Adaptations dont stick to Source Material.

⁠@@petthequeenofmaddness8592 but the funny part is in the video game there’s a lot of OP characters, so I don’t see the problem, Chris Redfield, Jill valentine, Rebecca, Barry, Albert, Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy are all original characters that are OP, and still are alive.

The first two I love. The rest goes downhill from there. I do really like the five one, tho. But with that being said, I love when ppl watch the whole series, then just one or two of the films.

@@kaylakurosaki4873 YES, the fifth one is cool AF. I think cuz it had that "trapped in a lab" vibe to it, not the open world of 3 and 4. 6 ends up being a disappointment too cuz of the retconning.

idk about that. the soundtrack for the movie is a masterpiece but it's nothing like the game's soundtracks that mostly focus on orchestral music with an occasional electronic element thrown in. what the Resident Evil movie soundtrack has is industrial metal sounds with heavy electronic influence. it's closer to what was popular for the Nu-metal genre at the time. I had the cd of this movie. One day, I was listening to it while doing dishes, and it got stuck on the first track. Which is the Red Queen saying You're all going to die down here. And it was repeating over and over. It scared the crap out of me.

These movies are the 2000s equivalent to 1980s action flicks. Silly stories, over-the-top action, and bad ass one-liners. If you lived through the 80s and loved that kind of movies _(or if you didn't live through the 80s, but discovered their treasures as "guilty pleasures" later in life),_ there's a pretty good chance, you'll love this franchise, too.

I came here for the laser hallway, the death elevator, Michelle Rodriguez being iconic, Milla Jovovich being iconic, "you're all going to die down here", "The Dead Walk!", and jump kicking dogs. But other than that this movie is totally forgettable :)

this movie is basically completely stand alone. which is why it was great. it's a movie that is inspired by the games and had it's on flare. the other films then try to lazily copy key points from the game which just end up not reflecting well. but most people agree that the first RE film is the best of the live action series. but i'm sure we'd all love to see reactions to all of the films because if nothing else they are a fun watch

I actually did a report in college on this movie. It was about how to properly use color to convey tone and how to build up to whatever big bad your movie has. I got an A lmao. I've never played the RE games, so I've always loved the movies, unlike most folks lmao. The first two... maybe three are the darkest in terms of tone and the actual hue of the movies. They shift from this to action, which was fine to me. Some are definitely better than others, but, to me, they're all enjoyable in one way or another. In terms of how fast folks turn, I'd assume it's like any other virus. At least in the first movie. How someone is affected (how long it takes them to turn) would depend on the persons immune system or something. And then the virus just got released. It hasn't had time to mutate or anything. And then Rain probably needed 3 or 4 shots of the cure. She got bit A LOT lmao.

Omg, you're going to love the next Resident Evil movie. Resident Evil Apocalypse is a damn good movie in my opinion. Also, most of it was filmed here in my hometown of Toronto, Canada. If you're having difficulty pronouncing Milla Jovovich, it's pronounced (Yo-vo-vitch) The first movie I seen her in was The Fifth Element. Here's some trivia for ya. Milla Jovovich is married to the director Paul W.S. Anderson and has children with him.

They shot most of the movie here in Berlin Germany (as well as the last two Hunger Games movie’s) The mansion indoor and outdoor scenes have been shot in and at the rococo and baroque castle of Prussian king Friedrich the second (who was almost certainly homosexual, and his sexuality has been the subject of much study) called „Sanssouci“. The hive train station and storage area scenes are all shot at the (back then) newly built but not opened then berlin Central Station only one mile away from were i live

If you are interested in the idea of memories and if they change who you are you should check out the TV series Dark Matter. The main characters are a group of people that get in an accident that erases their memory. They quickly discover that they are NOT very nice people... They struggle with if they should try to continue being the people they were or start being the people they want to be.

OMG I CAN'T WAIT for Apocalypse (closest to the games-in vibe- at least to the original sequels) Again, The movies DO NOT follow the storyline of the games BUT if you've played 3 then this is Easter Egg heaven, HOWEVER it's still not Resident Evil that we know, It IS nostalgic fun though. As a longtime RE fan however I do wish the studios would produce a show or movie series that is more truthful to the source material.

I love watching the RE series. I actually got stuck in an elevator at work (security on nightshift), and no one was around. The governing mechanism malfunctioned and stopped between the 9th and 10th floor, I was there for about an hour until fire rescue showed up. Let me tell you, my ass hasn't been in an elevator since.

cool detail about the film: the zombie Alice kicks while running away from the dogs is actually the films stunt coordinator. also, the entire scene with Alice exploring the dog kennel and fighting the dogs is cut from the televised version of the film for pacing and time slot reasons as it actually does nothing to advance the story and most people wouldn't realize they were missing anything with it removed.

So a couple things, the soundtrack music was done with Marilyn Manson. The RE Theme is massively iconic from him. The original DVD had commentary that overlayed as the movie played (as a few did at this time) and the budget was not very high. Anderson points out that the Licker containers they only have like 3 or 4 and were constantly moving them around to try and make it look like there was alot more. The dogs were real Dobermans draped in I believe it was fake blood and wet pasta or something like that. Jeremy Bolt, one of the main producers makes multiple cameo's as zombies throughout the movie. The mansion was a live on set shoot as well I believe in Germany, and in the commentary they talked about after every shoot night they all would get drunk as fuck and it caused Anderson to have to take like thousands of cuts for the scene where they burst through the windows. Its rather hillarious to listen to. And lastly, Michelle can't pronounce Mila's name.

Canonically in the games it took like a day or two for them to turn which you can verify through the diaries like the itchy tasty document. In movies it’s more like 2 hours.

I’m so glad you guys watched this movie. I’ve loved it since I was an infant. My mom used to think I’d grow up to be a psycho because she caught me giggling at the death scenes when I first started walking. This movie is great but the others that follow will never live up to this film.

I remember going to see this when it came out, I went alone and there was a middle aged man sitting next to me, when the dog scene happened he literally jumped out of the seat, clapped and screamed all at the same time, I felt so bad for laughing but his reaction was priceless, now whenever I see someone reacting 1st time to that scene I'm just waiting 😂

In case no one told y’all, the director went with the Alice in wonderland theme. Milla’s character is Alice and wakes up in a horror wonderland. The red queen, Spence is the Cheshire Cat. He’s mysterious and no one knows what he’s about. Kaplan is constantly worried about time, like the rabbit. It was a fun twist.

Resident Evil and Underworld were my goth/rave faves growing up, also i LOVE the video games, the movies dont follow the same plot and honestly it makes them easier to like because they created something fun. also love love LOVE Jovovitch, she def was an awakening for me lmaooo but yeah i can't remember if youve seen Underworld, i think youd like it
