For real he's a funny dude and I enjoy pretty much everything he puts out. I wish he'd do more animation and music but OneyPlays is something I don't want to go away. The banter between bros and just genuinely funny and talented hosts/guests make it the only let's play channel I've ever watched and enjoyed.

Yeah, their constant nitpicks expecting some kind of horror sandbox are annoying, and Julian’s constant questioning of everything is too. God forbid a story not give you all of the information at once, or that you have to look in the room first to see what puzzle a hint is referring to. Was still enjoyable, but they didn’t treat this game fair.

It's a gimmick in this game too though, it wasn't made for VR and there are no motion controls. You just sit down with a headset and hold a gamepad. It'd be better if VR adaptations actually let you use your hands.

I do the same thing and the option is there for a reason. It adds no gameplay value.

They were probably being a huge buzz kill to Chris. He was trying to enjoy it. They were not even being funny about it.

I dont really care about RE but they are not making jokes or being funny. That's the point of oney plays. Not complaining every minute. Ding-Dong and Julian were being miserable. If you are going to make fun of a game, then you better be funny. There was no humor. They sounded bummed and were just being pessimistic. This is probably why these stopped coming on stream because they were in fact NOT FUNNY.

maybe the mood was different, maybe they don't hold it to the classics standards. RE7 was herald as a return to the roots but its more like a chainsaw massacre copycat game than actual re. The mocap is ugly. RE4 is just as stupid but I think Chris let it pass cuz he love the gameplay. RE4 & RE7 are so far removed from classsic re that they can be their own franchises.

RE4 embraces it's goofiness and doesn't take itself too seriously. This game does which makes the goofy parts jarring.

To be fair, it does start of with a fairly generic "spooky southern house slasher" vibe, and it's definitely very different than the rest of the resident evil series. I think they went in cynical since it looked so different than anything that had come before in resident evil (which already had a downhill track record since 4) and companies have been bastardizing a lot of beloved ips lately. I say this as a huge fan of the game, it's easily my favorite modern gen horror game. I think it does a great job of subverting the stereotypes of the setting with interesting character ideas and tying in to the greater themes and narratives of the series as a whole, and I think the boys have come around to it over the years since they've spoken nicely about it in other series when they mention it.

@@steve7745 It has a crappy opening yeah, the whole game is crappy imo, but I was just saying its really unfair of Chris to cast judgement about the entire game after playing it for like 12 minutes Chris needs every game to be flashing lights in your face with loud fart sound effects every 2 seconds I really dont get it

You know nothing's gonna happen yet cause they haven't given you any weapons to defend yourself. So it's a walking simulator for the first 10 or so minutes.
