There could be a lot of good reasons for this that the vid didn’t show. She may have admitted to being under the influence when he told her. She could have a prior record of charges that bring into question her credibility and integrity. She could have asked for immunity on those charges. She could have changed her story enough that it didn’t seem credible, and we’re just seeing the one they chose to air. So many things beyond just looking at one factor to consider with decisions like that. Something seemingly small could result in a hung jury or even innocence so they have to weigh those factors when choosing who is credible.

Not really. The cops had a prime suspect who was the culprit and they had the testimony of a suspicious man in a grey Honda SUV. All they had to do was to do what they did more than 5 years later: inquire about the car of the prime suspect. If they did that, they would have confirmed the prime suspect was on the crime scene. They would have arrested him and the second couple would not have been killed.

I was fascinated by his family, they were so very ordinary and respectable - there are millions of hard working, loving parents like them who want the best for their kids. How did their eldest child turn out to be so dysfunctional? Garcia's behaviour was disturbing from his very first job, and got him fired from both that and his second medical position. As the lady doctor recalled - he was a bad guy, and a bad employee. I was shocked at the report of his inappropriate, disrespectful behaviour toward a dead body. And this is a man who aspires to work with the public as a doctor, a position of trust around vulnerable patients. He was clearly totally unsuited to the career he chose! Did his parents fail to teach him about respect for other people, and boundaries for acceptable behaviour? Was he ever told 'No' in his formative years, and put in his place if he overstepped the mark with other people? This is generally how we are successfully socialised, and develop into decent human beings who live good lives. No mention of any girlfriends - Garcia was an oddball and I would love some clues on how he turned out that way. The 'prank' with the dead body, and his inappropriate conduct around work colleagues makes me suspect some kind of autism. That however does not explain his subsequent killings - obviously most autistic people are not murderers.

Arrogance, entitled, rage, can’t accept criticism, childish behavior, thinking he’s smarter than he is bc I’m sure he was told all his life how smart he was, holding a grudge and incapable of letting it go, vengeful. What makes him psychopathic is that he followed through with his revenge and murdered.

Very typical in Latin families. More specifically, the "mommies" and their do no wrong spoiled son(s). She inadvertently created a monster. Most typically, these spoiled momma's boys just make horrible husbands. In this unique case, however, being as coddled also gifted him with a very bad character (which, as you wrote, included no accountability). To my observation, it occurs in certain cultures, such as Italians, Latin, etc. God help the women who marry these types of men, 🙁

@msf8297 Well, he is either inherently evil or he is a product of his upbringing. It is very common for parents to raise children differently. @@Mataylor17 It appears that you've taken my statement in a literalist way semantically-speaking, but as a former journalist and English professor, I'll refrain from argumentation. What I will proffer, however, is a breakdown in words of what I had hoped would be comprehended. American "higher education" was originally implemented in the early United States in order to "develop a more aware and productive citizenry" that would ultimately help to form a more civilized society. These were the sentiments of University of Virginia founder Thomas Jefferson himself. This is not to say that those lacking "education," whatever the form, are more capable of repulsive conduct. But an "educated" person typically would be looked upon as being more apt to use reflection and logic in their behavior. And if a survey were done of the education levels of those incarcerated for violent crimes, my hunch would be that those with higher education would be, for the most part, a definite minority numerically.* And yes, "going off the rails" is an apropos assessment of reprehensible behavior and is indicative of anyone incapable of mindfulness and self-,control, civilized behavior. Summation? You read too much into my statement and seemed to want to argue for the sake of argumentation, but your failing is in incorrectly assuming the intent of my message.* Incidentally, Department of Justice figures (2016) show that 14% of those imprisoned possess college educations. If yours were a classroom analysis of my initial statement, I'm afraid I'd give you a grade of D for going overboard with histrionics and being overly presumptuous.

The most scary people are the ones who blame others for their own failures! Justice was done,I'm glad! His family is ridiculously blind.

a man-child and didnt think the seriousness of how things are in real life and it bit him and as a child would , he blamed somebody else and the family was so delusional I am not a parent , but I have nieces that I basically help raised and I love them so much, but if they do what he did it would be heartbreaking and I wouldnt dare to act like he didnt do it. no offense but I can see where he got that personality.

I was living in Council Bluffs (across the River from Omaha) when this happened… we all suspected it was a Crieghton resident. It wasn’t a stretch to suspect this guy when all was said and done

" if you take the revenge theory, that leaves a big gapping hole".But isn't that what happens to any case if you take out the motive?

I can’t stand when families are so blind to the horrific actions by their own family members.

The brother is delusional. How does he explain his brother's paperwork with his handwriting in his sink? How does he explain the exact car seen in the neighborhood on the day of the killings? How does he explain all of the times his brother was fired for inappropriate behavior? His brother is evil. Look into his eyes and you will see there is nothing there. Every serial killer's family do not believe their loved ones killed someone, but they did. These killers are great at hiding their true self. His brother has always been 2 different people.

Man, I love that pickup line. Usually anytime I whip out the "I killed a lady and a child", girls just throw themselves at me! On a serious note, what a loser. I hope he gets harassed everyday in prison.

It's sad how one man can cause such heartbreak and devastation amongst several families, even his own just because he was a failure. I wonder if alcohol played a part in his poor job performance. Clearly he was smart enough to get through medical school. Instead of trying to better himself, he decided that revenge was the cure to his problems. His poor mom knew he was guilty, but couldn't quite admit it. She gave up her life savings to pay his legal fees. This was a sad episode.

This is shocking and sad! When you don't instill self responsibility you always blane others when things don't work out! I just cannot fathom these cruel attacks on anyone let alone a child, it's heartbreaking! RIP to all the victims ❤

As an Omahan this case struck everyone, somebody just walking around killing a child, a nanny, & an elderly couple in their own homes! I am so proud my state has the death penalty- if anyone deserves it he does!!!
