Apparently Paul W Anderson had no interest in the ganado's which is the reason why he skipped past them by putting the majinis in the movie instead, if I'm not mistaken majinis didn't look too much like zombies, they're actually a lot more intelligent but individualistic compare the zombies, because they're controlled by parasite not the t-virus

You are correct. It's one of the things the movies did differently. In this movie they were still zombies but they acted like the majini on wielding weapons and such. In the games they still looked pretty humanoid while wielding weapons and axes/molotovs.
