Everyone keep talking about how impracticable her out was in RE3, but tend to forget that she was on her day off when the outbreak happened. She wasn't on duty at all, the outbreak happened suddenly so it makes sense why she would be in that outfit.

The best version of Jill is the one between two slices of wheat bread.

My favorite design will always be the RE1 remake! She looked exactly how I imagined the original Jill in RE1 and 3 looked if they were “real” if that makes sense. She didn’t look different to me, just her with more realistic looking high quality graphics.

Might be an age thing..... I don’t get the “sexualized” angle.... those tube tops and cardigans were such a everyday staple of late 90’s girl attire.... and if the outbreak was “sudden”..... it would make sense she was dressed as a civilian......

I might sound like a broken record when I say this, but, Julia Voth's face really suited Jill's personality. She's still beautiful now, so no shade on the new model. However, I always hated reboots of any kind of nature.

My favorite Jill design is her BSAA uniform in RE5's Lost In Nightmares mode. She looks older and more experienced, like she knows exactly what she's doing thanks to her experience in Raccoon City. Also, I love how it borrows some things from the STARS uniform from RE1, while still feeling unique.

My problem with the new design is that it feels derivative to a lot of modern female character design. She is a bit to similar to Lara Croft of the remakes. Like even if Claire's outfit in the past remakes still seemed too unispired (I feel that giving color to her Jacket logo would had help her pop out a bit) She feels at least separate from that design trend up until she takes out the jacket and is left with tank top and jeans going back to the same look like the rest.

I don't like how thay changed her face so drastically in RE3 Remake :(

PS. I did not mention Julia Voth in this video. I somehow missed that. I await the comments pointing this out and brace myself for the massacre.

RE1 remake Jill is still my personal favourite. The outfit is so iconic, and the actual character itself is perfection. Cute, smart and sleek, the perfect counterpart to the Shonen manga hero that is Chris Redfield. For the face design, I do feel like Julia Voth really has that quintessential late 90s to early 2000s pin-up look to her, which is exactly how Jill Valentine should be. And as a side note, they also share the same initials

I personally love the MVC2 design the most. It was my first introduction to Jill and it’s been the one I think of when I think Jill for years. I just love how expressive she is, she’s afraid when she summons the zombies, she’s relaxed when she’s won, she’s holding on for dear life when she used the bazooka! It’s all there and so fun, and personally I adore the cheesy voice lines in the game that don’t really fit lol. Second favorite would actually be the RE5 DLC look. I think it’s an updated take on what her job and seeing as she’s become less of a military cop and works in the shadows chasing after Wesker it makes sense that she would look more sleek.

Short answer to the video title: NO! Long answer: While it is far from her worst design, the tanktop and jeans combo is really, REALLY generic looking. In my opinion her best look is the one in Resident Evil 1, specifically the version from the remake.

Unpopular opinion: BSAA Jill Valentine is one of the bad ass costume, totally reflects on her since she's a bad ass because of all the things she been through.

I like how she looks in REV and 5 most, but I’m a sucker for tight bodysuits. Not a huge fan of her new design, but eh, mods can easily fix it.

I’m mixed on Jill’s new current model, her face is what is making me mixed but I like her outfit a lot. my favourite design of Jill is her RE1 remake. It may be just be the same as the original core design, the way they modelled her is what makes me love that version of her. Great video Mark! REmake 1 has the best design hands down.

Her face model for 5 is the same face model as the original. To say that her face looks drastically different is obviously a big stretch. Her hair is blonde and she got paler skin but she still looks like Jill. As compared to the 360 makeover they did in RE3 remake. Let's not even. I don't like her new outfit in RE3 remake. It's way too much like one of the new Lara croft's outfits it's a costume that doesn't feels like a "Jill valentine exclusive look". Example: If a cosplayer wears this outfit in a convention you only can tell if it is a Lara or Jill cosplay just by looking the cosplayer hairstyle, thats how bland the new costume is.

I prefer her original RE3 design in those promotional renders. Same with Code Veronica Chris and RE2 Claire. They looked like real people without looking "gritty" or extra thicc. Chris wasn't on roids, Claire looked her age, Jill looked sophisticated.

Jills original Re3 outfit with the "impractical" comment. I feel it adds to situation coming out of nowhere and blind siding EVERYONE and that no one was prepared. New Design is kinda bland.

I would LOVE to see what they can do with a fixed camera style RE like the GameCube remake. The graphics were FAR ahead of its time. I think it’s because of the fixed camera angle, they were able to detail the environment so much better..

1999 RE3 design for sure~ personality wise they really do a good job with progressing her being a very heartfelt character that sees umbrella as monsters for doing this to the ppl of raccoon city. ok so back when the game was new I was 12, I questioned her outfit choice too. but it makes sense back then a friend told me look at what the zombies are wearing its probably very hot. and it makes more sense as i've gotten older shes a 23,24 year old woman, just because shes a badass stars operative doesn't mean that it has to overwrite her wanting to be sheek, she was probably getting dirt on Umbrella as the city went to shit so it would make sense that she would try to blend in, operation racoon city jill looks pretty too. I'm in love her design with those Jill renders, they're just top notch, and for RE3 remake, as much as i like it too, my first initial response was "Hey, that's a fusion of Mila Jovovich and Kate Bosworth" and no one can tell me otherwise lol

The toilet paper joke omg. Those are my thoughts about few of Jill Valentine's characters designs. First, her S.T.A.R uniform from RE. It's simple yet practical. While it not realistically militar as you mentioned, I think the color gaves flavor to her design, since blue is a color usually connected with the police. And the remaster, just made it better. Second, her outfit from RE3. It's impractical. However, it adds charm to her design and highlights to her feminity. Her RE: Revelations outfit looks like an entire suit. However, it reminds more of a spy aesthetic than an actual soldier. And finally the RE3 Remake design. Her outfit still retains the famous blue, however, it's practical, simple and suits better for the situation. On few occasions, I noticed that Jill's short hairstyle tends to change from left to right. It doesn't add more significance, it's only a little detail that I wanted to point out. Otherwise, either short or long hair suits her anyways.

Her S.T.A.R.S. outfit is the best for me. It's sooo iconic.

What Jill wears in Resident Evil 3 is supposed to be impractical though...she's not on duty and has to suddenly escape. Given her design in re1, I think it's fair to say she generally cares about looking good. Her stars uniform isn't out of place, but stands out as being a bit more fashion-y than the others and reflects her personality. Her wearing normal clothes in resident evil 3 gives this extra sense of dread and reminds you the entire time that the player/Jill is not really prepared or equipped for this. It's reminds you that the events are messing with her life. The outfit isn't out of the ordinary either. Like I said she clearly cares a bit more about fashion, and what she wears is just generally slightly fashion-y and trendy for the time

I think Jill just always looks best in a uniform.

Jill’s re3 outfit was completely practical. She wasn’t expecting the zombie outbreak to happen as fast as it did, she was in more casual clothing because of this. Once Jill noticed zombies had started taking over it was too late. She had to leave her apartment RIGHT AWAY. She didn’t have time “oh what’s practical for me to wear right now” zombies took over her apartment and like I said she had to GO. So storyline wise the outfit completely makes sense regardless of your personal feelings towards the outfit. And in remake the outfit also would’ve made complete sense as well because close to the original it happens literally in the blink of an eye with a twist this time nemesis showing up to her apartment. That design is iconic.

Why people try to say "RE3 original Jill's costume is impractical and weird", from the original and remake of RE3, you can see that everything is happened by surprise. Jill should not suppose to prepare for the outbreak and still rest in her apartment. It should be in comfortable outfit and she need to remove her outer vest to move comfortable. I hate the "make sense" outfit since no one will sleep when wear the jeans. so tank top with outer clot, short/skirt are making sense more than wear 2 shirt with jeans when rest in the apartment Also, the original blue RE1 cloth is great since she is a police not soldier so keep the blue colour design is great.

Makes me sad that you’re not very fond of Jill’s RE5 Design, because I think it’s her best one. I like how they kept the blue and added a baseball cap in exchange of her beret and a ponytail

STARS, B.S.A.A. and Battlesuit are the best for me. RE3 original is pretty nice too, but remake is absolute miss (nicer way to say I hate it).

I think her original costume fits better for Jill. She's a feminine woman who shows it through her appearance and has always had a motherly sense of attitude and personality. While her remake appearance also fits well and was still caught off guard when she was off duty from work, and had no issues with looking pretty and beautiful. Now in the remake it just looks like they gave her the Lara Croft remake treatment.

New. Vothfans were going to be loyal no matter what. Jill has to strike a delicate balance between "eyecandy" and "believably recruited into an elite tactical rescue team". RE3make is the only one to strike that balance.

Both versions of Jill are beautiful. Though I may be a bit more bias toward Julia Voth’s design.

I like her new outfit because it's practical but I'm a bit unsettled with her face. Capcom really was trying to feature its face capturing technology here but atleast they could have kept a few features of jill from past games. One thing i kinda hoped from her face design is an emphasis on her Jap/French features. Most of her designs are all Caucasian but no Asian whatsoever.

They didn't even try with her redesign. They just made her look like modern Lara Croft to be as inoffensive as possible. That's not how good character designs are made. The very least they could have done is give her a white belt or something to keep the original color scheme in tact.

I grew up playing all of resident evil games, my first introduction to the series was the original Resident Evil Nemesis and back in the days I did have this crush with Jill haha. Every time I think of Resident Evil, Jill is the first protagonist that comes to my mind. If I have to say I totally agree with you, the best version of Jill was from REmake. The face of Julia Voth makes her soo beautiful, but still they gave us this badass protagonist which fits perfectly in the S.T.A.R.S team. As well they did gave us the custom from resident evil 3, by far my favourite Jill design.

I was so use to the classic stars and OG 3 look, that any others didn't stand out to me; or that i bothered to care about. I think what bothered me the most was why tf they make Jill's eyes green from Brown? Me personally prefer her brown eyes a lot more. Makes her look more wholesome and down to earth. The green makes her look distance and vacant at times. And (this might be minor to some) her stars top in 3 remake. It looks more like standard blue tee/tanktop than her more tactical top from RE and RE remake; so I actually hate it. I tried using it but I went right back to the remake design of the OG look. ...Granted I dig the new remake design, like she was just sitting having a cup of joe and Nemesis came knocking to welcome her with some freshly baked scones 😅

Personally my favorite Jill Valentine design are her classics, the tie between RE1 & RE3. RE1's design is just iconic and even barring that, it's a unique take on a military outfit and was a great call in making her look non-generic and stand out without being too over the top. I didn't know that the designer didn't like generic military looks so it definitely makes sense why her design looked the way it did because as much as I love it, when I first saw it as a kid, I thought she looked more like a policewoman than a military operative, mostly because of the blue color palette and her beret which at the time, I thought was supposed to be a police cap lol. Her RE3 design while ridiculous as it shows way too much skin which would be a disastrous thing to have in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, it still just kinda works even if it's nonsensical and like you said, it's a fun nostalgic look nowadays showing the trends of the late 90s in popular women's fashion. To me, I always assumed that she looked that way because she was vacationing though in hindsight with context, that doesn't make sense since she was on the run from the organization LOL. Either way, I do like it. That said, I really didn't like her design in RE5. It's not that it was bad but it's just that it was a tired cliche at that point. See while you did mention that she looked like Zero Suit Samus, for me she just lookedl ike a bland copy of Sarah Bryant from the Virtua Fighter series and even more importantly, Nina Williams from the Tekken series. Blonde hair + Purple jumpsuit aplenty with these women and that is why I personally could not get behind this look for Jill because she just looked like a knock-off Nina Williams and I was glad that she didn't stay looking that way and went back to herself sorta-speak. Her design in Mercenaries where she returns back to normal, it's not a bad design though it is a bit generic but to be fair, Resident Evil was trying to go in that direction after RE4 so I'll just say that it works for what they were doing. Her wetsuit in Revelations looked nice. Now with the RE3 Remake, I do think that it looks good as it makes her look more practical but with her wearing a regular tank top and necklace, it better conveys how she was a bit more casual and having her guard down in hiding while still ready to take action as evidence by her pants, holsters, and combat boots. Indeed I agree that it's a great redesign for her though I'll always going to prefer her RE1 & RE3 designs purely on nostalgia and uniqueness. Anyway fun video!

I think all her designs look great. Favorite clothes are RE1 Remake and RE3 Remake. Best face and personality is RE1 Remake. My problem with RE3 Remake is they changed her personality and I really don't like how she's depicted in that game.

Yasss I just cannot for the life of me understand why RE:Make is so underrated by the masses yet anyone who has played it will always rank it as the best game in the whole series. Need Silent Hill to get onboard and man, if they can hit the same spots as RE:Make the world will once again remember what true horror is, and that is much scarier than bloody jump scares and monsters with goopey long tongues, clowns or half naked dudes with big swords...

The RE 5 dlc outfit it's by far the best one. I can't help but think of Julianne Moore's character in _Next_ . That outfit really sells the explosives expert turned anti-BOWs activist persona. And just in case you didn't know, none of her outfits "sexualises" her, and even it did, there's nothing wrong with sexualizing her. Nothing a man likes is wrong. Feminism bad, men good 👍

I definitely like the RE1 design best. The outfit is practical yet just ridiculous enough (seriously, those shoulder pads) to be sort of endearing. She also just seems like a genuinely nice person, and feels like someone that anyone could hang out with.

With Nemesis outfit, I can remember hearing Maximilian (Dood) saying its like Jill walked out of the club and into the zombie apocalypse. While it is cool they brought back the classic Nemesis costume for REmake 3, but I do hope they also bring back noir mode, along with the period inspired costumes. Ok it doesn't quite give off the same vibe as REmake 2, and there maybe a moment where like when playing as Ada, in the shipping container area, where I cannot see a goddamn thing and its like trying to navigate through an ink well, but it still added a unique atmosphere. Especially combined with the original soundtrack. With you saying as well about remakes being all the rage these days, recently Sega seem to be doing alot of Sonic Adventure teasing across social media. Fingers crossed we get an Adventure remake, and if we do it shoots for more a Resident Evil one, where it takes the base game and expands upon the gameplay, levels and story rather it just being a straight up 1:1 remake like Crash or Shadow of the Colossus. I really want Knux and Miles - does that make them sound like some 80s synth pop/new wave duo? - to get proper expanded stages of their own rather than it just being another rerun of: here's a wee bit of Sonic's stage(s)... have fun! I had thought this when playing it last year, and it confirmed it when played it again at the start of the year, I feel its like Dante in Devil May Cry 4 before that was a thing. As in the game's designed around Sonic/Nero first, and everyone else pretty gets whatever scraps are left (though not I'm saying either DMC4 or SA1 are bad, I love both. I just want more SA1 goodness lol) Also I miss Marvel 2 S.T.A.R.S Jill in Marvel 3...
