My first resin and alcohol ink petri dish experiments (with glitter of course)!! Warning: this process is completely addictive!! This is just a short time lapse video of the process, and then the unmolding of all three resin petri dishes!
Materials I used:
Art Resin, mixed according to their instructions
Culinary torch
Ranger and Pinata alcohol inks
Silicone baking mold
Gold Bling It (by Rezin Arte)
rubber gloves, stir sticks, and little cups
I started by mixing the Art Resin according to their exact instructions. I warmed the resin bottles in warm water for about ten minutes before I mixed it. I poured the resin into three silicone molds to about 3/4 of an inch or so. I let the resin sit for five minutes, and then I used a culinary torch to very quickly pop the air bubbles. You have to be careful to not burn the mold. After that, I used a toothpick to remove any air bubbles from the edges of the molds.
Once all the air bubbles were gone, I added a bit of bling it mixed with clear resin to the molds. I wanted to have some glitter in there! I added drops of colored alcohol ink followed by drops of white alcohol ink to each dish. I was not sure how much or how little to add since this was my first time. I waited the full 24 hours before I unmolded the petri dishes.
Colors used:
Petri dish 1: Citris, Rasin, Baja Blue, Butterscotch, Twilight Purple
Petri dish 2: Sunshine yellow, Mermaid, Juniper, Terra Cota, Teakwood, Passion Purple
Petri dish 3: Lettuce, Stream, Salmon, Wild plum, Sunshine yellow
Thank you for watching!! I will answer any questions in the comments. If you liked this video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel :-)!!!

Each time you removed them out of their molds I’d say: “That’s my favorite!” They all look soooo beautiful. You did a wonderful job. Super creative!

Jenny, I adore your friendship with the colors .... there is never enough and they all play so well together. I'm kind of getting information overload. These are a one of a kind and they are beautiful!

Wow. What a wonderful way to phrase that. It is a kinda friendship thing. I feel very fondly toward so many colors, and I like it when we are all together. LOL! I am kind of a color addict. I think that color has huge psychological benefits! Thank you so much Anita

@@JennyPost I agree 100% ... I love lots of different colors also but it can get messy if you don't know how to control the flow, if you will. And you do it so well, it's a real pleasure watching you work.

My prayers are with you. You never know what your outcome is going to be. I've had melanoma cancer over 20 years ago. I caught it early and go to the dr's on a regular basis. Keep your faith with you. Your friends closer and we will get you through this.

WOW you were having just too much fun lol They turned out gorgeous. It looked like it took a lot of alcohol, or is that just the impression it gives. Amazing technique. I'm gonna have to try this. Did the glitter show through.

You will love it Rosalie! I did use what seemed to me too like a large amount of alcohol ink! I watched lots of videos and thought to myself - man, it seems like they used a lot, so I just went for it. The glitter did show through a bit but it dispersed. I think if I let it sit for a bit longer, and then put in the glitter it might stay more globbed up like I was hoping for. Thanks for watching!

I know. I really can't believe I finally "went there" but I did!! LOL. My husband didn't try to kill me (that I know of :-) I already sold one of these for $10, I figure I might be able to recoup the cost of the resin if I get some on etsy. I am going to put them in shadow boxes and see if I can sell them locally too. People love shiny stuff! Thank you Joseph!

Thanks Karen!! I have no idea!! I just kept going. I watched a lot of videos before I did them, and it looked like people added quite a bit, so I just went for it on this first go (with the intention of scaling back if it was too much). Flying by the seat of my pants!! :-)
