That salting is just beautiful. I’m amazed that the bowl didn’t fall apart with all those cracks you filled. Good thing that the CA glue works so well, as well as the resin.

Ok, popcorn! Cracks can be such a challenge. A little sanding sealer or shellac will seal the wood next to the crack and prevent staining. Easier than tape. And I prefer hot glue for resin dams. No leaks and it easily turns away after the resin is hard.

Popcorn!! Next time you have some small cracks like that, try a needle. It allows you to get right down in the crack, and warm the epoxy and it’ll flow better. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing!!

Please keep showing the steps you take when turning... it is interesting to see all the work it takes to create a bowl (or other item). If the video is jumpy, with no explanations of why you are doing what you are doing, it becomes less 'homey'. Example: telling us why you turned the middle out vs. using a Forstner bit. Personal choice... that is a great reason. If you hadn't mentioned that, I would have wondered about your sanity! Great job as usual. Enjoy the popcorn (with extra butter).

Looks great Peggy! Nice POPCORN bowl! I’ve also had tenons break off and blown out mortises. I still prefer tenons and use Cole jaws to remove them. I also like Murphy’s walnut oil. Cheers, Stuart

That was a gorgeous piece of wood and I'm so happy you kept it a simple design to show off the beautiful grain. I'm not sure if the finish you used will be food safe for popcorn, but I'd rather keep the bowl empty anyway so that I could admire it.

i have learned a lot and adopted many of your techniques. so here is a tip i can pass on. i buy eyeshadow at the dollar store and color my epoxy with it. saves some bucks and works fine. i also use a pointy artists palette knife to poke epoxy into the tiny checks. hope this helps.

Re: the great debate of tenon vs mortis most chuck grip tighter to a tenon than a mortis. Ten on can be longer than a mortis could be deep. Some wood react differently to clamping effect of a chuck. One could use a waste hard wood block glued on to project to turn off later. Simple there is more grip to a tenon than expansion into a mortise example a drill chuck. One should stop often to check tightness and use all clamping screws in all chucks

Another beautiful piece Peggy. The purple resin really makes this pop. Question; you mentioned that you prefer a flat bottom on the pieces that you turn. Cam at Blacktail Studio recommends a concave bottom on his works. Is it a function of finished good scale or just a personal preference? The concave bottom is for wood movement and how the bowl sits flat, if there is a slight concave on the bottom, it will more likely sit flat longer, even as the bowl ages and wood expands and contracts. I generally use a slight concave, though I don't really talk about it.
