Given the rubber nature the wound he gave Luffy would contract and reduce the bleeding a lot in comparison to a normal human so i think he even stabbed himself better

Seriyooow tbh that line from Katakuri is one of the best lines in One Piece. Most people tend to forget that Luffy prolonged this battle as long as he could in order to attempt to develop Future Sight, and Luffy praises Katakuri for having it several times throughout the fight. Such a fitting end to their battle, because even though Katakuri could still fight if he really wanted to, Luffy robbed him of the will to battle.

@@tbhgodrick6120 oh it's the opposite man, katakuri could kill him right from the start, but he just keeps on hitting him and not really dealing a deadly blow like cut on him. Katakuri is the one that praises Luffy of his resolve for his crew and how persistent he is. Over the fight he grows to admire him how he still standing up and not giving up. He gave it to luffy and gave him a battle that kinda like become his training. I feel like he could still fight but he just gave it to Luffy as he earned it and he's also tired being used to defeating enemy fast, he's not used to this prolong fight unlike luffy.

@@ncknelson no, Kat very clearly states halfway through the battle that he is very frustrated that he can’t finish Luffy. He’s not used to fighting long battles, and it’s stressful for him. He’s used to finishing people so fast that long battles are a rarity for him, and he’s bad at them. It’s true at the VERY beginning, right when they hopped in the mirror world, he could have. But after Luffy interrupts the food time, Kat takes the kid gloves off. I think we are somewhat saying the same thing but approaching it from different angles.

Kata could only stop him in the past because of his Haki, but he wouldn't have been able to do that as easily once Luffy's Haki caught up. Also the transformation into G4 only takes long in the anime.

@@xaviermoralesvasquez5324 No, the whole point of his statements from the moment Luffy started getting the "hang" of his ability, was that he no longer could stop everything Luffy tried to do without risking getting hit in return. Katakuri JUST SAID he didn't want there to be any unfairness in the fight, which includes giving any concessions. If Katakuri didn't stop Luffy from transforming like before, its because he no longer could without risking getting hit.

Jack Jaques so both you and Amara are saying Katakuri CAN stop Luffy, but he risks getting hit in the process. which i think is Xavier's point - Katakuri can still stop Luffy from using G4 but he didnt. I also think that was the point of Kata saying, "Yes, I accept the challenge."

Katakuri is actually a mirror of Luffy but stronger, his DF let's him do the same things as Luffy, his Haki is/was stronger than Luffys, He cares about his family in hte same way Luffy does. Even the fact that Katakuri wanted a fair fightis the same as Luffy. Both understand that fairness isn't part of a pirate fight but Katakuri still fought him fairly. and in the end i believe Katakuri didn't sense malice from Luffy when he stated that he will take down Big mom in order to become Pirate King. and he admired Luffy for "being able" to look so far ahead into the future as to when he would be pirate king. maybe even that he was persuaded that he shouldn't stand in the way of Luffy becoming Pirate king. and the fact that Luffy covered his mouth which he knew Katakuri was sensitive about people knowing what his mouth looks like. so that when they find him he wouldn't be shamed for his mouth.

For me the best moment is when Luffy says to katakuri that he is going to be the pirate king, katakuri tells him that he sees very far into the future. This means that after this fight katakuri believes that luffy is actually going to be the pirate king. RESPECT!!

Not sure if you got confused about the training flashback but Luffy was learning basic observation haki. Which is to sense people and dodge attacks but against katakuri he was learning to see the future for the first time.

To be fair though I felt this fight was kinda plot armor-y. Far more so than the other fights, Kata should've beaten Luffy far, far faster. Like if he did that good against Snakeman than the 10 other hours he was beating on Luffy should've been over much faster. Basically I think its plot armor Luffy held out so long. Luffy beating Kata I believe, strength wise he's there. But surviving so long in base form I feel was plot armor.

Rubber and mochi are the same thing, pretty much. It's just that when you stretch rubber, whether you want it to or not, it always goes back to being its original shape. If you stretch mochi, it takes the shape of whatever people want it to be, regardless if that's what the mochi wants.

I don't know if you realize but Luffy put a hat on Katakuri's mouth out of respect towards his wish to keep his face hidden. Also, Katakuri purposefuly lost to Luffy out of respect to his ideals even though he was stronger. You just gotta love him :')

He didn't purposefully lose.. i mean sure he stabbed himself but that was just to make it fair. He lost when he fell on his front. He couldn't fight anymore. The only reason he stood up was to purposefully fall on his back to show respect towards luffy.

Loved how this fight went from an obligation to the family, and a distraction away from the straw hats to two men that truly wanted to beat each other. No ties no obligations just two men wanting to duke it out to see who’s stronger. That’s what makes this fight so good.

When KATAKURI said to LUFFY "you're seeing quite far into the future" when luffy said that he'll be king of the pirates. KATAKURI is acknowledging that luffy is the future pirate king. That's my favorite part of this whole fight !

By the way, the difference in the move he used against doflamingo in regular Gear 4 and snakeman is this: regular Gear 4 it maintains the speed everytime it turns. In snake man he focuses it so that everytime it turns, it accelerates, so its getting faster each time his arm changes direction. So he used insane speed and misdirection to handle katakuris foresight

Snakeman is not stronger than boundman, so, boundman is a balance between strength and speed, tankman is a defense boost up and snakeman is speed boost, wich means lows some aspects but gives other "gifts"

Snakeman is a glass cannon, the speed make the attacks be more powerful. Tankman is super defensive and packs a punch, look at cracker with one blow where he ended, but it severly cuts its speed. And boundman is a balanced mix: powerful, fast and defensive but not as much as the other forms

57:01 Haha this is just my head canon but I think he recognised Pekoms immediately due to all the observation haki training he did when fighting with Katakuri. 33:57 I also didn't get this the first time but if you rewatch it you'll notice Katakuri said 'I'll accept that challenge' - and that is him foreseeing Luffy's Snakeman and saying fine I'll let you do it show me what you've got. The amount of respect in this fight only increases when you rewatch it and notice these little hints.
