0:00 Introduction
0:23 Pleural membranes sometimes refered to as the 'pleura'
1:04 Remember P for Parietal and Perimeter
1:23 Each lung has an independent pleural membrane
1:44 Parietal pleural menabrane is firmly attached to chest wall and diaphramatic surface
2:36 Visceral pleural membrane
2:44 Visceral pleura follows and is firmly attached to the lung surface
3:16 Two separate pleural cavities, one Yor each lung
4:08 Parietal pleura and chest wall carinot
4:44 example of a potential space
5:19 healthy lungs are pink
8:25 Expansion of the lung reduces the air pressure inside the lung
9:06 Boyle's Law - increasing the volume will reduce the pressure
9:20 Boyle's law - decrease in volume will increase the pressure
9:46 Nociceptors - pain recepters, generate pain
9:54 Parietal pleura is extremely sensitive to pain
11:25 i.e. there is a potential space
11:46 Normally there is no space between the parietal and visceral plaural membranes
12:06 Air gets through the wound and takes up space
13:21 Mediastinal shift
