We are on Stamford Fire Department Engine 1, where we go on a run for a call of a kitchen fire on Courtland Avenue. We were 2nd due, while Tower Ladder 1 was 1st due truck. Before we could get to the scene, another engine company reported overcooked food on the stove and cleared all other units. Enjoy the sound of the response, despite not getting to the scene of the incident itself. Engine 1 is a 2014 KME Predator. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on July 14th, 2015.

it is cool to see the driveer controling the air horn, maybe the Q too ?! In my opinion only the driver should do so because he is driving the rig and he knows how and when he needs the siren and horn

When I was active as a volunteer 40 years ago our trucks had dual siren buttons for the driver and the one riding shotgun. If I was the shotgun I controlled the siren mostly. Back then we had no air brakes and no power steering. We had standard transmissions. Our Engine Tanker weighed 27 ton fully loaded. The drivers had enough to do, at least I felt they did so I controlled the siren. The driver could still hit it if he felt he needed. Now the same fire department has all newer equipment with power everything and automatic transmissions. They have it easy now....not..

I disagree. The driver has a lot to do. Paying attention to traffic, road conditions, thinking about where he's going to park when he gets there, etc. If there is someone in the officer seat, then he should take care of the radio, siren, and horns...Just my opinion.
