I'm trying to figure out what's so great about it. I like it because of Tekken 3, but Tekken 7 is ok at best.

Hi homie. I got to be honest. I have over 200 hundred fighting games, including tons of kusoge ones. I have virtually fighter 5 Showdown on ps3. I am not happy with the so called remaster v5 Showdown on ps4. I observed cut content from the ps3 version that's not included in the ps4 version. Even as a teen virtual fighter was bland. In comparison to tekken. Tekken Tag Tournament 1 is just way more fun, Tekken Tournament 2 destroys virtua fighter 5 Showdown in almost every way. Trust me I was a super vf from day 1. And to me without vf their would be no tekken period. Funny thing is some of those who worked on tekken. Which ironically did 3D fighting more justice. The ambiance of vf is dry as watching paint dry. Whilst tekken is fun as hell with way more personality.Even Dead or Alive series has way more personality,Dead or alive 5 destroys vf5 ultimate Showdown. Mechanics wise Dead or alive takes da cake. I have been playing vf since da first release. And I was was for year of those vf arrogant elitist who actually believed vf is just superior until I actually grew up. And reassessed my stance. Tekken is complicated and is basically like chess to vf checkers. The presentation is blank asf for vf, sega dropped the bag on this. The marketing sucked ass, the sounds are whatever, unlike tekken that hits hard asf, like a rocket blast blew up in opps face after getting combed and ended with Paul deathfist or kazuya electric fist. Nothing in the entire vf franchise has that bone breaking, meaty ass hit sounds. Tekken destroyed this game for sure. And this is coming from an 44 year old in 2024. I brought vf ultimate Showdown because I love fighting games period. My favourite vf characters are number 1 Vanessa then Goh, shaolin monks dude, number 1 for me is dat Chinese dude who is father to waifu chun li wannabe, mainmanswe is a shill fanboy for tekken. The story sucks ass in tekken franchise, I am freaking tired of the mish-mash storyline thrash. Ryu evil within is better but we oldheads know Capcom got inspired/ripped off this bs from tekken. For me personally 2D fighting are just more creative. Look out for Blazing Strike and pocket Bravery. Two indie companies. I couldn't give a f about 3D. Even though I have all of them. Their something busted about most 3D fighting games. Ironically Virtua fighter 5 ultimate Showdown is actually the most balanced and fairest of all 3D fighting games. The most busted of them all is tekken tag 2 and tekken 1,tekken 7, and Trust me tekken 8 is kusoge busted as all hell. I play it casually because I play too many other fighting game tbh. The shill bitches will go on as if tekken 8 is the be all and end all of fighting games. The grab system is inconsistent with its frames,timings, the slow motion effect is cool but kusoge asf tbh, the amount of memes of social media is countless on twitter and KZfaq, the amount of kusoge moments defying logic is beyond stupid funny in the robbery moments during slow motion fight ending moment in tekken 7 and 8. The heat rush mechanic is busted and just bs, the armour on normals is game breaking hair pulling. I'm no scrub my highest rank is empire in tekken 7.

Thats what I like about Virtua Fighter is that they really stick to there guns with there characters. Now if only we can get them to fix there marketing of the game.

That's what I'm saying it comes off as nitpicking. The netcode could be better, but other than that for a free game it's pretty good.

I get what your saying but sound effects can be one of the most important things for action games. Subconsciously or not they can help give force or feedback on an attack or action and give satisfaction. I think its something people care about subconsciously and rarely notice unless the sound is really bad for whatever action, or they hear the exact same sound effects throughout other games or media.

Well also, the sound effects in VF are the way they are because Virtua Fighter is a whole-ass phenomenon in Japan, meaning those canned sounds are as iconic as it gets for that country's player base. And for me personally, it's always evoked a sense of old kung fu movies. Those always have a certain phony quality to their wooshes and strikes that, sure, isn't realistic or easy to take seriously, but I personally find to add to the charm and overall fun.

You compared two different genres first. Secondly, look at Strret Figher III 3rd Strike. They changes little to nothing matter of fact it was just a ps3 port. That's they same thing that was done with VF5. What you are saying doesn't make sense. In the example you gave the complete overhaul of graphics and some gameplay.

The ill-tekken fans act like football fan or fans of WWE, no matter what, they will defend the product to no end. Even when the top development Tekken team members said outright that Virtua Fighter 2 and 3 are better games, and they created Tekken with inspiration from Virtua Fighter, most of the ill-tekken fans don't believe them. Ultimately, if there is a rivalry of any form, whether it include DoA or VF, it's all about bashing the rival game and defending Tekken even if they know nothing about what makes that rival game good. Ever since I played T7 story mode, I've been saying why is Akuma being used as a plot device when we already had Jinpachi who plays like a Akuma clone. If Namco was only going to take 1 character from Streetfighter, they should have used Dan. This makes sense because Dan's capabilities would make him useful in Tekken more so than Streetfighter. But my opinion. At least his hydouken range would be more appropriated in Tekken. My biggest question and issue, why is the main protagonist a random reporter🤔🤔🤔

Also if you think about it. If the servers are shut down for PS3, you can't play online no more, right? Right so why not remaster VFV for PS4 🤷‍♂️. I don't see ANY REASON to make VFVI right now. VF isn't about a story mode so it doesn't need VFVI unless new characters and maybe a try-it-out story mode, then fine. I would say if SEGA wants to create new characters to release them to VFV instead of releasing a new VF and add them there, but in SEGA's eyes, it would be best to release VFVI with added customization, characters, combos, added moves to all characters move list etc.

He definitely was more humble when he started. He was more salty in tag 2 but he was more genuine. I don't hate the guy just disagree with some of his points.

Yes VF4 is the most popular VF to this day. My main problem with TMM assessment of the game is that he didn’t give a fair shot. He was looking Tekken in a game that isn’t Tekken. That would be like me getting made at KOF because it’s not exactly like Street fighter.

I don't understand what people mean when they say the game feels clunky. When I input an action, the character responds quickly and correctly. The game has a generous buffer and dial-a-combo system making it extremely easy to time strings and sequences. Side steps mechanically crush all linear attacks. When you side step you don't have to worry about getting clipped by a move that animates linearly but randomly tracks left or right, like in Tekken. What specifically is clunky about VF compared to Tekken?

The game isn't clunky to me. I plays very smooth the problem that I see Is that people are expecting Tekken in Virtua Fighter.

That's the main point of the video people keep trying to compare it tekken it's not Tekken. If it's not your cup of tea that's fine. I don't complain about MK being like street fighter.

Key word that revealed what is what about you issue, "... tried it out for a bit". That's the problem. Please go and play VF4 Evo via emulation. Play and analyse the tutorial mode and play some Quest mode. When you feel you are satisfied and have a better understanding of the game, come back to VF5US and try again. Ultimately, you were trying to apply Tekken principles in VF, you cannot do that. This is why you mention the game feel "clunky". It isn't "clunky", it's because you trying to play the game differently from what what it is. It's like you trying to play KoF like Street fighter, if you do that you'll lose. As for the net code, play against people in your region if you can. So far, everyone I know that complains about the net code admit that the netcode is better than T7 and they were trying to play against players from distant places.

Nintendo nearly always puts out bomb ass, polished game design. (not everything of course, but way more consistent than Sega). Every dev has their ups and downs. With Sega other than the Yakuza series, it's mainly downs. Jet Set Radio was good too, but they haven't done shit with that franchise either...
