Response to Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants

The United Nations is working with the Government of Guyana to help Venezuelan refugees and migrants through programmes supported by UNHCR, PAHO/WHO, UNICEF, IOM, and UNFPA.

Thanks to international organizations and the government of Guyana for helping the most vulnerable migrants who cross the border from Venezuela to Guyana, in search of new opportunities for housing, education, health and work with decent wages. I hope this support continues in mining sites and indigenous communities where the need is greatest.

The end goal is to secure votes in coming elections for the PPP/C ...many immigrants from Venezuela and other Spanish speaking territories are prone to violence, compete with Guyanese citizens for jobs and feel completely entitled to illegally occupy land that Guyanese could utilize for legacy building and livelihood. This will pose a serious problem in time to come. HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT OUR PEOPLE EXACTLY?!

I think it’s great, Guyana is underpopulated and can use a bigger tax base and more workers. They will need it to build all the things they want. Plus the people get helped.

@@amazonwarrior7126 well you can’t just leave the refugees like that, some of those people you need them because they contribute to Guyana, but what I can’t understand is they didn’t want the land before why now?!

@@1terriblesouthamerican134 why now? its because they see us getting richer and they are getting poorer, and their pride cant take it, but as you know the old saying pride comes before a fall. I have no problem with the venezulian refugees coming here.

@@amazonwarrior7126 there’s a legal terminology I learned recently it’s called Act of God, so in this case it’s nature related, there’s a famine, no one know why, it’s not the citizens of Venezuela fault, no explanation that makes any sense, but it’s affecting the citizens, I think Venezuela. Is either the new Sodom and Gomorrah or Egypt, something bad happened it included the Venezuelan citizens. So we turn down the opportunity to help them bad things happen to us.

But if we let them too close, we have to pay for lack of knowledge, besides the new development, something else is about to come with that new development.

listen Guyana is short of labour, but some of them young men in alboustow and certain places which I will not mention as some will accuse me of bias dont want to work,so we can take thes people in and also teach them to work in shade houses so they can have an income, tell me which sourh american nation have these policys? None no not one.

PPP is giving a lot of these Venezuelans citizenship so that they can vote 🗳 for them in the next election. That will come back to haunt Guyana.

hay Gibbs you remember when the pnc was in power,they give citizen ship to thousand of Haitians, Nigerians, jamacians, because they want to turn Guyana in to a black majorite country,raceism at its worst
