Hello folks! Today I show you a restoration of the Caucasian dagger. This blade was given to my customer by his great-grandfather. This dagger is very important and expensive for the customer. The main task was to preserve the details of the dagger as much as possible. The dagger itself is mid-19th century, Eastern Georgia. Well, let's start the restoration!
Firstly, I began to disassemble the scabbard. The old leather was fastened with nails, as were the fittings. To remove it old leather, I used warm water. I cleaned the accessories of the scabbard with a sandblaster and where there were cracks and weak points, I soldered them again.
I dried the sheath of the dagger, as well as the leather itself. I glued the wooden parts of the scabbard and then re-glued them together. The old leather of the scabbard could not be reused and I used a new one.
I cleaned the blade of the dagger with sandblasting and its rivets, after covering the remaining parts with paper tape. I cleaned the blade with sandpaper, but I kept the whole history on the surface.
As usual, I checked the Caucasian dagger test. I hope you enjoy this restoration video!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
