I Turned This Uzbek Knife Into A Work Of Art!

In this video, I restore a very old knife made by an Uzbek craftsman. My friend found this knife from a very old grave, and this black plastic cover is in my friend's work handle. If you have noticed in the video, the handle of this knife was originally cast, which has disappeared over time.

скорее всего он имел в виду, что из рабочего ножа получился очень красивый нож, но уже не для работы. Прямые углы на рукояти скруглены лишь символически, при работе они будут очень сильно наминать ладонь. Клинок Вы заточили, организовав режущую кромку, причем солидную. В то время как характерной особенностью узбекского пчака является сведение спусков в ноль. Такая геометрия клинка обеспечивает отличный рез, при этом при не самой твердой закалке (от45 до 52 HRC), что также является особенностью узбекских ножей пчак, позволяет править клинок на многих подручных предметах - например, донышке пиалы или тарелки. С моей точки зрения Вам стоило обработать спуски клинка и вновь свести их в ноль, заполировать, а оставшиеся коррозионные раковины придали бы аутентичность клинку. Следы олова на рукояти, скорее всего, остались от оловянного больстера - гюльбанда, который формируется путем заливки верхней вати рукояти оловом. Или от припаянных пластин из латуни (бронзы, меди и др.), формирующих больстер. Вы рукоять сделали полностью деревянной, да еще и оголили часть обуха в районе больстера, так, что при резе обух тоже будет наминать ладонь. Все это мое личное мнение касательно дизайна ножа, на котором совершенно не настаиваю. При этом искренне восхищен Вашей работой по дереву. И узор, инкрустированный орехом по самшиту, и гнутые деревянные проставки в ножнах, и точность выполнения всех работ - все это очень понравилось, обязательно попробую применить эти приемы в своих работах.

Бедный нож! Ему сделали красивую обёртку, а лезвие даже не подвергли шлифовке и полировке... Пчак- это узбекский повседневный рабочий нож. А вот этим даже лук для шурпы нормально не нарезать, будет мешать выступающая часть рукоятки. В общем, декорация ради декорации...
