The nickel plated brass has really taken a beating from the humidity. The earlier kits from the 70's seem to do this worse than the later ones. Pros recommend spraying a coat of clear polyurethane over nickel parts once polished and ready to install, if building one today. It provides an invisible oxidizing barrier. It's how they prevent polished brass doorknobs etc. from turning brown.

Yes, that’s a good technique.

Yes, one of India’s many treasures. When I made this car I couldn’t find out about its current whereabouts, but now with the internet, everything is so much easier.

I own a Bugatti 50T. It was fun to build this car, even if the kit wasn't cheap. it's a shame that there is no longer something like that.

MFH kits from Japan are the new Pocher. The Alfa 8C2900 and Bugatti 35 are beautiful, and expensive!

Wow! That is really beautiful. You restored it so well. Btw, can the side doors windows be winded down and up? Would love to see it! Thank you for sharing it here. From: Singapore. 😊

Hi Gomosh, yes the windows can be wound up and down with the little handle!
Great Job of restoring a legendary car. I love those 1:8 models in general, but this one has some shortcomings. The most glaring one is the poor fit of the engine cover with the radiator. I cannot believe the full scale vehicle would have such odd gaps. The exterior colors are a mix. The silver is OK, but that orangey color, I still cannot stomach it. I assume this was also the color of the full scale car, if it was called "Star of India". Probably the orange is some sacred color for the Hindus. Moreover, it makes the model look plasticky instead of steel or diecast iron. The interior is also a mixed bag. Some bits look great, good wood or leather or imitations thereof, others look plasticky and have no place in a 1:8 model of a RR.

All fair points. The orange is the colour of the original car and it was made for an Indian Maharaja.

Not what I would call a restoration. really just a cleaning. Paint was full of orange peel, paint scratched, upholstery very poorly done.Pieces you printed rather crude should have cut out of sheet brass. Sorry but car deserves better.

I guess everybody’s modelling skills vary. I did my best.

Pull Your head out, it’s up your a*^. If your going to post a restoration that’s fine it should be a restoration. I don’t see this as one. But at least he cleaned it up.
