I watch these videos, not to admire the restoration process, but to admire the amount of effort these guys put into faking the item needing to be restored. The amount of rust, yet no metal pitting is amazing. The fact the gear box and face were in amazing shape, despite the shattered crystal (hint, it is no longer water proof once that crystal is destroyed, and the inside would have been rusted tight)

Reminds me of the time I found a Patek Phillipe at the garbage dump. It was all crusty and dirty. I almost threw it away but then I decided to spray it off with a hose and voilà, it magically came back to life and looked brand new. So glad I tried the hose trick. I now have a brand new $30,000 Patek.

Вот только эти "мастера" берут новую вещь, снимают на камеру как они трут её тряпочкой и собирают, а потом "купают" её в говне и волосах и типа восстанавливают, хотя на самом деле они просто монтируют материал в обратном порядке. Странно что эти ещё не в бане.

Amazing how much effort someone would put in bringing back to life a 10$ chinese-fake watch. And that's the point. A Vacheron Constantine, even in the initially shown condition would cost quite an amount of money. On the other hand, almost all Vacheron Constantine watches would have a native mechanical movement and not a plastic quartz one. And a mechanical movement would require a whole lot more of skill to restore.

Buy two chinese 10$ watches. Smash and rust one of it using Hydrogen Peroxide. Go to your local landfill. Place the watch. Make a video cleaning the watch an partial restoring it. Swap the parts with parts from the intact watch. ??? PROFIT.

Isn't there a shortage of people who fix watches? Why not document a simple process? It might be staged but its somewhat informative. Edit: watches may not be essential to life, but I still think people are going to want to own them for a few more years 🤔 😅

Ok don't see why everyone gets upset about how he finds stuff. He is just making content finding it isn't the point. Also is the watch a knock off or not isn't the point, it is in bad shape and he really did fix it. It is working again. From what I could see all parts were working again and most knock offs you're lucky it tells time with just stickers for the other bits. So good for him and fixing a good looking knock off.

Most of these "restoration" videos are like that. Considering all the dirt when he found the watch, the internals are in really great condition even the case itself. This is obviously a fake video

It's funny how you think a platform for views and money will have extemporaneous and genuine videos. That being said, this video with fake script got him 8 Mn views. @@darktherapy Stainless steel is a category of alloy. There are many compositions (and grades) of stainless steel that rust due to a combination of physical and chemical forces acting on it leading to damage of the Cr2O3 layer. Abrasion and pitting can cause stainless steel products to rust.

Very suspicious how he found it. Also the watch doesn’t look like a real Vacheron. I have never seen a Vacheron with plastic inside and batteries. Totally fake video.

Nah, the video looks legit, it`s moving pictures, has even sound, thats per definition a video, not a fake. Parts of the content seen in the video is questionable, as everything we see around us, but I don't see clear statements from the creators side that it definitly is a real Vacheron - nor is he denying he sets something up here and there ...

The cynic in me says he planted this watch there, knew where to find it, picked it out and spent a day 'restoring' it and has got about 10 million views as of now. Not a bad way to make a quick buck!

It's the other way around. Buy a cheap new knock-off watch. Take some video of it being put together after dissembling it.... then cover it in mud , smash the crystal and pretend to find it. Take it to bits then throw it away. Then edit the video.

Old watches don’t have plastic movement retainers in them. And with a broken crystal and as dirty as it was the movement is spotless inside... Also you should always set the time to 12 on the date change so you know where the time is otherwise you’d never have a correct telling time on the watch. This video as satisfying as it is is a load of bull!
