Restoration Rusty Curved Knife

2 жыл бұрынHello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration project. As usual, I found this curved knife at a flea market. Under a layer of rust, the handle of the knife was still is beautiful, and I bought it.
First, I removed the handle from the knife. I put the handle of the knife in solvent, to remove the glue and dirty of the handle. The blade I put in rust remover. Then I washed both parts. Due to that the blade was not tempered. I tempered it and made new bevels.
After that, I polished the blade. I had to clean the handle and re-cover it with an etching agent. The sheath for the curved knife I made of pine. Covered with natural thin leather. I also made the accessories for the scabbard fittings from brass.

@@chuk4ik мне тоже они не понравились! Как отдельная композиция они хороши, очень даже! Но не как дополнение к этому кинжалу! Кинжал то арабский, а ножны Кавказские !

Без сомнения прекрасная работа. Но я почему-то подумала что это страшная красота. Это лезвие так красиво, и словно улыбаясь смотрит на тебя, будто красуется, рукоять так удобно ложится в ладонь, а представляете сколько он унёс жизней, ведь его по сути для этого делали. И он говорит: " Я убью красиво и быстро".

The scabbard alone is a work of art. The handle of the dagger is so pretty, I wonder why it was discarded or left like that. But at least you did your usual magic!

The quality of the restoration was excellent, but I never liked restoring antiques anyway. The Mass that occurs on antique objects has many words of history. They play exactly the role of the gem on the ring.

Really enjoyed the video and the attention to detail. Also really enjoyed the laid back rough style of how you restore the knife and it's handle. But I wish there were tighter shots of what you're doing, and close ups so I can see the details.

This is the third restoration I've watched today and the best of the three, by far. The talent of the restorer was really brought forth in this one. All were really good, don't get me wrong, but this showed more of the talent the man has. Fantastic.
