Wow so sharp it cut paper thin plastic!

The heat on the tip of the blade to straighten it ruined the temper and the quench would not have hardened it cause it wasn’t at critical temperature. Also the heat to do the quench would travel down the blade and ruin the rest so the whole thing would have to be requenched to get optimal hardness.

Meh not too bad,Did you sharpen the sawback? A sheath,with a sharpening stone a ferro rod will make it more useful for survival uses

It is called a "survival" knife because it somehow survived the restorers work 😂

I’m pretty sure that your chisel wasn’t designed for scraping rust off a knife. Now you have to re-sharpen your chisel. I would have used a wire brush.

You did not have to heat the tip to straighten it. By quenching and not tempering, the tip is left brittle.

Thanks for using a chisel for the initial clean-up. It drives me nuts when other restorers use a small flathead screwdriver... it takes them freakin' forever to remove the crust LOL.

When your finish with the item that you found and then they clean it but do you do with the item when you're done like that you give it to someone or you just throw it out what do you do with it

looks very bgood at the end but that blade is no longer hardened and of any real use now sadly

No temper left in the blade but looking at the steel quality I doubt it had any to begin with Artificially aged Chinese crap just to make a video and try to dupe people into thinking he’s done a proper job
