If you're serious about improving the quality of your photos check out bit.ly/TopazPhotoAI. After improving noise, sharpening and increasing resolution I use Luminar Neo (bit.ly/Luminar-NEO discount ATNEO) to complete the edit.
In the past I've shown how I use Sharpen AI, Denoise AI and upscaling with Gigapixel which you can find here: bit.ly/TopazBundle It's amazing software for improving image quality, but I really love using bit.ly/TopazPhotoAI because it combines ALL of those technologies into one app. It's really simple to use too which is nice.

BIG NEWS! Skylum has just launched a summer sale where you can save a massive 81% off Luminar Neo here bit.ly/NeoSale But the cool thing is in addition to that they've given me a coupon code to share with you so you get to save ANOTHER 20% (use code AFF-T5C1C0 ) I really hope that helps you out! It should work for both the perpetual licence and the subscription too. Enjoy😄 Best wishes, Anthony

Thanks for the great comparison. It confirmed my own findings about the superiority of the Topaz tools vs. the Luminar extensions.

I really appreciate the mini tutorial on Topaz Photo AI, a tool that I bought some time back, but have only used few times. I didn't realize it had a crop feature! I'm going to be using it more.

I'm so glad to have found this video, Anthony. It's so appropriate for me: I shoot Micro Four Thirds, and I use Neo and Topaz AI. I also do the bulk of my edits in Neo now and I agree that their extensions, while useful, are nowhere near as good as the world class ones from Topaz. I was a little skeptical when Topaz first released Photo AI, but since they gave it to me for free (as I already owned Denoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI), I gave it a shot. And WOW, what a tool it is! I'm constantly saying "Wow!" with everything I throw at it. I sure hope Luminar will support plugins eventually. That's one ability that's sorely missing now.

Great video in demonstrating comparison results of Luminar Extension and Topaz Photo AI. Thanks Anthony. Luminar had probably hired someone from Topaz and sell their features by collecting ext fees. At about the same period of time, TOPAZ had moved a step ahead in consolidated its Giga Pixel, Sharpen & Denoise into Photo AI and keep improving. Luminar hadn't improved its core engines of Mask AI. Hope they can improve.

Great video again, Anthony. I do use both Luminar Neo and Topaz Photo AI as my "go to" when it comes to photo editing and I have to admit, I learned new things, at least regarding Topaz Photo AI's masking and cropping which I usually do with Luminar and talking about masking, if anyone at Skylum is watching, you guys MUST improve your masking AI, it is horrendous. Also, it would be nice to have software integration like Adobe has with Lightroom so you don't have to get in and out of software, but rather use it as extension. Also, lens profile option would be a plus.

I agree--Mask AI is their least effective "AI" tool. They should just give us what Lightroom has: subject, background, sky masking. LR nails it every time. With Neo, it's a frustrating exercise to get it to select your subject. I usually give up and manually brush it in.

Thanks Anthony. I sent that photo of a sacred kingfisher because it was an extreme example. I tried the Luminar extensions and the trial version of Photo Ai without great success. So, it was great to see your workflow using both. Clearly there is a necessity for understanding the tool's limitations and strengths. It doesn't just happen. With the Olympus, shooting small birds I often have high iso because I use high shutter speeds in the bush. Shooting at 20fps I only got 3 frames of that bird the other two were as it left the perch. After sitting for several hours stalking that perch, it wasn't even the bird I was after. I was looking for an azure kingfisher! Thanks again. I will be thinking hard about whether as an amateur the cost of Photo AI is worth it given that I have DXO pure raw as well.

I have both Topaz Photo AI and PureRAW (not the latest version though), and I'd choose Photo AI any day as it can do so much more (though the optical correction in PureRAW might be better). And though PureRAW is expensive, PhotoAI is even more expensive, but it does include all three of their class-leading tool, which work phenomenally well.

This was amazing sir, superb work here. Really enjoyed this one, having been recently given a naff jpeg that looks like it has about 8 pixels to its make up. Needless to say, while LN made a reasonable job of at least making it possible to see WHO was in the picture, I think your PhotoAI recommendation might just make a better result. Cheers chap. Appreciated.

Perfect timing. Recently purchased TPAI. Excellent presentation - thank you Anthony and much appreciated. Using TPAI or any of the Topaz products as stand-alones rather than a plug-in is awkward, somewhat clumsey. I'd love to see a tutorial on the file management end of using the two softwares parallel where you start editing your raw file with TPAI - and then going to Luminar Neo for final edits - I don't like having to put my TPAI processed image into Neo's "Add Image" section. I'm winding up with tons of images in that section. I'm not sure I even know how to explain what I want to do - just when using Neo I've only ever added a folder that Neo points to on my HD. Thanks ever so much - looking forward to more tutorials on the Topaz products.

Great video, it was good to see wildlife editing, no one is doing this, there's loads of us shooting bird pictures, yet everyone is focusing on landscape editing, occasionally they will mention photoshop, but never explain, and photoshop can be a generic name like hoover but using a Dyson. More bird editing with Neo please.

Hi Ron. Yes, I enjoyed doing this one. It's different from my normal genres so it was a nice change. I don't photograph birds so if you have some images (raw preferably) you'd like me to consider editing for a video tutorial you can send them through to anthonyeditsyourphotos@gmail.com. A brief description of what you want to achieve or are struggling with is always helpful.

Great video as always, so much information carefully presented. I have a query. I normally upscale before I edit perhaps because the upscale program is in the catalog section of the program. I then Denise and sharpen etc. You do it the other way around, does the order matter? Keep up the great work.

Very interesting tutorial as always. Thank you so much for helping us improve and better understand our edits. Regarding workflow, In the "old days", using Luminar 4, Topaz Denoise and Sharpen could be used as a plugin on Luminar. Doesn't seem to be a possibility with Neo. I would think it would make things easier to do the raw edits on Neo, send it to Topaz through plugin and finish off the edits on Neo ... not forgetting to add "mystical" at the end for good measure :) Any thoughts?

You convinced me! I just bought Topaz Photo AI using your link. Question: Should I use Photo AI on the RAW photo BEFORE using Luminar Neo on the exported TIFF? If I do that, I no longer have access to Develop RAW in Luminar Neo, right? In a previous video of the Milky Way above a canyon, you did the Luminar Neo edit first (including Develop RAW) before exporting and running it through Topaz DeNoise . The Topaz website recommends using it on the RAW photo, as you did in this video. What do you generally recommend?
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham Ай бұрын
Firstly thanks for using the link. It helps me out with the channel. 🙏 So it actually depends on the image. Personally I like to get the most out of my raw file using developRaw first. - for most cases. I would actually recommend doing a simple side by side workflow comparison. It'll reveal the benefis of each method and help you understand what's going on with each step. Then you'll be able to choose the approach based on your knowledge and experience.

Hi Anthony! I've yet to get Topaz AI's combined package, so I have the old stye 3 apps version. I did mail you some photos from Shetland that I could not do anything with😾. Did you get them? I would be nice to know whether you could edit them with Luminar Neo, they are all RAW files. Please get back to me if you have not received them as a download. Thanks! Regards from Felix the Cat. 🐱
@AnthonyTurnham

Hi. Yes I downloaded them the other day. I had a play around with them but as you mentioned due to the fog/mist the visibility was pretty poor and therefore there's not as much detail captured on the sensor to do that much with. Did you have an idea of what it was you were hoping to achieve with the edits? Regardless, I bet you had a nice time! I'd love to visit at some point.

If you have a current subscription for the three apps, I believe Topaz gives you Photo AI for free (that's how I got mine). But if you let your subscription lapse, then it's not free.
