The Liberace Mansion is where Mr. Showmanship lived in Las Vegas in the early 1970s until his death in 1987. The mansion, open for tours, has been restored to its early opulence and is the first structure to be bestowed Clark County's historic designation.

I knew someone would save it. Good. I got tickets to see him back in the 70s, as kind of a joke. No one thought I'd go. I went and took my little boy. Liberace was fabulous and my kid became a musician.

I love the idea of replacing the pool with the performance room. after touring the house in the mid 90's, was so sad to see it had been left empty. Many thanks to the gentleman that saved it, and for Clark County as making it a designated historic piece of local history.

It’s no longer original and modified from the way it once was. Apparently Ted Turner’s brother who later acquired the property filled the swimming pool with concrete. None of Liberace’s cars are kept there and are now at some automotive museum. Scott Thorson, Liberace’s long time lover was dispensed with by Liberace after he found a newer replacement lover and is currently back in jail until later this year because he breached his parole conditions. The new owner and his two pooches are now residents in Liberace’s closet and live there like caretakers to look after the place on a permanent basis.

Me too! As a child, I remember my parents watching reruns of his shows. What a kind and humble man. Also, I later had the pleasure of working security for him in Atlantic City at Resorts Hotel & Casino. I was assigned to stand guard outside his suite. He came back to his suite after his evening show w his mgr. and other staff. He walked directly to me, said hello and asked if had dinner. I said yes, but he still asked if I would like room service. I said no because I could get fired. He then turned to his manager and said if she changes her mind you get her whatever she wants. He said it’s nice to meet you have a good evening and he walked in his room, I’ll never forget it as long as I live. PS I asked if I could see his piano ring along with his others. those rings were so stunning in person you have no idea.

What a great man to do something like this that will keep his legacy in tact. I had the fortunate luck of meeting Liberace in NYC after a Madison Square Garden event in 1957. I was 7 years old and we were having dinner at the spindle top restaurant in NYC. Liberace was at the next table with a friend and my mom said look son there's Liberace. I asked her if I could get his autograph and she walked over first after he was finished with dinner and he signaled me to come over. He asked me what my name was and signed a table menu placard that was the waiters card for how you wanted your steak prepared. The back was just a white blank so it was perfect for his autograph and a note he wrote. I still have the autograph in my office today framed and in view for anyone who comes in to see. I'm glad that his home is being restored and his memory is being relived through the work of such diligent people who valued his contributions to the city and the music world 60 years after I had the pleasure of meeting him one evening.

Back in 1984 my wife and I were living in Melbourne Australia. We went to see him perform that Saturday evening. It was a show like no other . and despite the cost of the tickets, I have no regrets in paying for them. It was an evening to remember and he played encore after encore . I think we all flew high going home. So glad we saw him as we had no idea that in a couple of years he would be deceased. Great man with a huge heart

Wonderful! In a town not known for keeping it's history this is amazing. They may wish to do what they do at President Eisenhower's farm in Gettysburg, PA. No one drives to the home at all. His shows, were just that, a show.....that's what an entertainer is all about, to give the audience fantasy, mystery, glitz....that was his gimmick, people paid big money to see him and he gave his audience their monies worth. Not to forget he was an amazing pianist........this was a wonderful thing they did with his property, its about time.......he was a good person. I hope his soul is in peace and happy that he is appreciated for all he gave to the world of classical music and entertainment.

JMMT7022801 : When Lee restored that mansion was a different time. He never built mansions, always restored those of bygone Hollywood legends. I will always be a Lee fan. Grew up in Milwaukee watching his reruns. I will always treasure my VHS of "Sincerely Yours." Good corny stuff. I met Lee in Downtown Milwaukee in the early 80s. Lee and his people were striding around Downtown Milwaukee during one of his engagements. Visiting the home turf. I think I was going to meet my sister who was working at the old Gimbels at the time. I hesitated because I didn't want to seem a fan. I just said, "Um, Mr Liberace? I've always been a fan..." He lit up, amongst his handlers. He was wearing some silver fox coat. He grabbed my hands (he had huge mitts) and we traded small talk for a minute. He had on heavy make up, but was so full of energy and flashed that Lee smile. I'll never forget that. Damn I didn't get his autograph. At the time, I thought that would be tacky. Damn.

about damn time, nevada. and its a damn disgrace that any private person had to take first action to invest it all themselves. out of pure love, which vegas / nevada should have shown to the building ages ago. i mean i guess in that city alone are numerous spots "where someone famous lived" and not all can be declared historic sites. but given the thought how big liberace was and that he practically invented showbusiness as we know it today....as i said, about time.

All the photos and videos I saw of Lee's Las Vegas Mansion when he was still alive showed a beautiful White plush carpet on the stairs going up to the second level. I can see his dogs running down to him now. I think it fits in more with the plush look rather that that tacky brown carpet. Out front their wasn't that horrible curved awning that was added when it was made in to a reception Center. If the original look of the place is important these items need to be addressed I think.

Nice that the mansion was restored so that his fans can see how he lived.

Very happy to see this mansion restored back to its originality. This man is doing a wonderful job with very deep pockets. I’ve seen the House when it was abandoned and wasn’t sure it could be saved but it has been.
