This is amazing. This woman treads fearlessly where the rest of us have never dared to go before, and we are all the wiser for it! Thank you!

Wow! I really don’t know what to say. Thank you for your comment but I must tell you the truth. I am afraid when I try something new, but if I don’t try then the doll won’t be helped and that’s what I love to do. To attempt to bring them back to their former condition makes me very happy. But I am always afraid that I will hurt more than help. So far that has not happened yet. Being concerned makes me proceed very cautiously. So it’s a good thing. I’m so happy if what I have learned helps others.❤

Thank you very much for showing this video. I have wondered for awhile now to restore oil cloth shoes. You are both so very talented. That is a great tip about using artist board for the shoe soles. I would love to make new old shoes. I collect Ginny, Jill and Patsy dolls. I found my first Ginny doll at an Estate sale for $1.00 so now I'm hooked.

I have watched every one of your videos! I’ve learned so much!!! I have my mom’s Ginny and Jill dolls as well as a few of my own (from the 60s) when I was a child. I soaked a few of their clothes and used the tops you gave. They look so great now! I bought a tiny little iron, too. I washed one of the Jill dolls’ hair and used fabric softener as you suggested. Brilliant! It worked so well- as I had washed her hair before as a child and it was hard as nails. I even bought an old doll from eBay to try some things on, and a Patsy doll who has these oil cloth shoes. I’ll use the tips you suggest here. One Jill has a tiny bit of green on her ears from the earrings. I’d love to see a video of what you do to take care of that- Also, I think you’d said you make your doll clothes, too. I’d love to see that! Thanks again for the detailed videos! You are both so precious to watch, and as I said, extremely helpful!!! ❤

First of all, it makes both of us so happy to hear that these videos have been helpful as that is our only purpose in making them. I will have to look into the issue with Jill’s green ears but I have heard of it before. I have purchased dolls to learn on as well, those dolls end up having a forever home here. Thank you for the suggestions on future video topics, I have considered asking those who are watching to suggest some that they would like to watch. It means so much that you are enjoying the detail that i am including as I try to keep the videos as short as possible without leaving out important information. Your comment has touched our hearts!🥰💗🌺

very good video - do you have one on how to add new snaps to ripped oil cloth shoes?
@DIYDollArtist
@DIYDollArtist 9 ай бұрын
not yet but I have planned on trying to figure out that problem. I have save snaps from old shoes that hand no chance to be fixed . I cut the snaps of the traps leaving plenty of material to try and use the snaps again on vintage shoes . I just haven’t gotten to that point yet. but it is definitely a priority in my list of things of problems I want to try and solve. I do think it is possible, here’s hoping that’s can happen.🤔

Does the olive oil ever turn rancid?
@foxythecutefox2564
@foxythecutefox2564 9 ай бұрын
We use olive oil in a lot of things so I’m gonna say no I’ve never heard of that it’s not animal based oil all that happens with not using it “As olive oil gets older, it gradually breaks down, the acidity level rises, and flavor weakens.” Even “Other ways of recycling old olive oil Soap-making. Make some candles. Oil-based hinges and molds. Make sure your furniture is safe. Make a mask that will exfoliate your skin. Make moisturizing creams.”

No it doesn’t . I also have used it on other things, such as unfinished wood over the years and it works great . No smells. That’s why the cardboard in the shoes soaked it up immediately because cardboard is made of wood and wood dries out and needs to be treated . Hope this helps.

Does the olive oil smell ? Why not use a mineral oil ?
@DIYDollArtist
@DIYDollArtist 19 сағат бұрын
Hi, to answer you first question I have not had that problem. I have used olive oils on numerous thing with no problems but others say not to use olive oil. I still use it . I’ve been using it for years. But I have use miner oil on a pair of shoes once and I liked what I did normally better. I think that you should choose the way that makes you most comfortable . Everybody has different experiences with this or that way of doing a certain things . There are many different opinions. I really have no opinion on this except that the shoes made of oil cloth are in desperate Need of being oiled or they become brittle and break apart. Just pick a method that you as I said makes you comfortable in your choice and your shoes will be fine in the end. 🥰

I thank you for your comment. Not sure which one of us is annoying to you but. The way this world works is someone at sometime in their life is annoyed by something or someone. Since I’m the older of the two that is answering you I must say that my daughter is everything I wish I could be. I admire her very much. She never puts herself before anyone. She is loving caring and kind. Her and I are one . It will be both of us or non of us. The later is just fine for us both. My heart goes out to you because I wish you could see loving kindness when it is right in front of you.🥰
