I remember getting a CRX when I was 16. It was one of the coolest cars you could get at the time. I had mags and lowered it on the ground. I got an exhaust and pod filter and had it dyno tuned. I was running a 2 1/4 inch exhaust and it was quick. I used to pull the speedo cord out of the gearbox to allow the car to go beyond the 180 cut out. I would always drive the motorways at redline in 5th gear.

One of the most iconic and original designs Honda Motor Corp ever produced. Way cooler than it’s DelSol replacement. Classier lines than any generation of the Prelude ( which I am a huge fan of). I had a 1987 CRX Si in black. It was a really cool little 2 seater. That rear foam OEM spoiler was so strange. I kept it pristine, so when my buds found out that it was basically the consistency of a nerf football, they just had to ask for a punch in the jaw when they would press their thumbs into it, causing the paint to easily spider web and crack. What a strange, heavy material to use as their Si production spoiler??! …. So.. the next year (1988) when this version of the CRX was on the market, I just HAD TO HAVE IT. I had my heart on the Si version in yellow, but all my local dealerships never ordered any Si CRX’s. It wouldn’t have did any good if I did find an 88 Si, because they were too expensive. My credit only allowed for the economy friendly models. So I signed for the baby blue HF version in 5 speed, no A/C, one side view mirror lol. Back then A/C in a Honda was NOT STANDARD EQUIPMENT. You had to basically buy an Si which all came with the moonroof and A/C in the package, but the others had to be ordered. At least that’s what the dealers in my area told me. So here I was making payments for 36 months on a car without AC, standard roll up windows and I was as happy as can be because that 1988 HF model with the steel wheels still looked better and sportier than the previous 1987 Si tiny, boxy car I traded in. I loved that 1988 CRX. I loved going through its 5 gears and rolling up to the gas station only once a week and topping off the 10 gallon gas tank with a 5 dollar bill of 89¢ per gallon of 89 octane. Later in life I needed more than 2 seats to get by in life, so I sold my little light blue CRX and bought a used, immaculate condition 1989 Honda Accord coupe. I think it was an EX model with power moon roof, very stylish pop up n down headlights. The 2 door coupe was still worth the cramped style of having my daughter’s car seat in the center back buckle. No way was I going to drive a 4 door Accord Sedan. Nice cars, but not my style. I have such happy memories of the days I drove those 3 Honda’s. My favorite will always be that new 88 CRX . Unfortunately, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find an unmolested, 2nd generation CRX on the market that wasn’t chopped and lowered or without a 4 feet high mess on the rear short hatch that some goof claimed was a wing or spoiler, oversized wheels and tires and a ragged out engine with some goofy aftermarket cold air intake and the original plastic air filtration and intake still with the car. You can thank Hollywood and Mr VIN DIESEL for making every high school boy of the 2000 era buying up every last available Honda CRX and ruining the factory handling with a set of Eibach Springs and throwing all original components away to be gone forever. So….thanks to all you Fast and the Furious idiots for ruining and making the CRX an extremely endangered species. I mean really, these cars were one of two varieties Honda had made. One was a super fuel efficient variety that sometimes got up to 50 miles per gallon on the highway and the other was a “ somewhat” zippy, tight handling Si model. They weren’t ever made to be a super car. Loud and stupid coffee can sided muffler tips speeding up the town’s Main Street annoying everyone as bad as a new Harley owner with newly install drag pipes. It was the end of the wonderful little CRX and I just only wish Honda would produce a retro model that had near identical styling and curves like the original. I’d buy one today if they sold them because that particular CRX (1988-1992-3? ) STILL looks as modern as the cars built and designed by Japanese companies today. It would sell too. So many young college and new to the work force youth would buy that car and enjoy its simplicity and extremely fuel efficient ways with a standard gasoline engine and a 5 -speed gear box. Even the automatic trans were extremely fuel efficient. I miss the good days with quality cars that you got for a great price.

So glad to see that you actually masked off the valve cover when painting it, thank you! Lol, I hate how almost every single person in the Honda community will spray a valve cover without masking any of it off. Then they end up with paint in the plug tube holes and inside the valve cover, it always looks trashy that way, and why would they want paint inside their engine lmao

@@TrollinAreYou it isnt half assed, its just you paint it without maskin, put the oil cap on and the paint will tear easy because the threads are still a little greasy, take the oil cap off, put the valvecover on the engine and boom there you go freshly wrinkle paint valvecover without masking :) its not that i dont want to tape it off its just easier this way in my opinion

I don’t know about you but I’ve been through some different thoughts all along the process, for example when I was done with disamantling and starting to sand everything, I was starting to doubt if I can fulfill, wondering what did I bring myself into, then satisfaction when painting was done, and excitement when I was putting everything back. Now I’m so proud of the result and love this car almost as much as my main one.
