So if you didnt know I decided to buy a Smart Car. I bought a Smart Brabus 451 edition. The Smart Brabus 451 is lightweight hilarious little thing. It has a 1.0 Turbo 3 cylinder engine and 100bhp. My new Smart brabus 451 needs some love but its great fun and this Smartt 451 Brabus edition desperately needed to have its wheels restored amongst other parts of the car.
In this video i show you the entire process of diamond cutting my Smart 451 Cheap Brabus wheels back to perfection!

I really enjoy your Brabus restoration. I live in the United States and own a Fortwo Passion. We were not allowed turbos so the Pure, Passion, and the Brabus here are all a mere 71 hp and 68 pounds torque. I want a turbo so bad but the kits are around $4200 which is about 3,027 British Pounds. So I really envy you for having a turbo and the ability to remap for 125 hp. It will only get worse for us Fortwo owners here since Smart pulled out of the American market. The terrible transmission and lack of advertising killed the Smart here. But there are still loyal owners that love their Fortwos very much.

Those wheels look fabulous when refinished! Good work. I had my Roadster Coupe and Forfour Brabus wheels all refurbished with the machined 'diamond cut' look and finished with clear lacquer. They look great for a time but as the Brabus Monoblock VI wheels are soft cheese-like compound and wear low profile tyres, on Britain's roads they buckle easily in potholes and get battered to death. This casues lacquer flaking, water finds its way in and they corrode again. Like many owners, I gave in and ended up getting them all powered coated in a very attractive metallic silver.

They do look good, I walked past on Thursday and thought “they look shiny, I wonder if Stef has had them done” & then up pops the video. I have also used The Wheel Specialist before, they did a great job on matching the wheel colour on my wife’s fiesta b4 it went back to the lease company. Great video on the diamond cut process 👍

As a muscle car owner I shouldn't like this car but I want one. The gearchange is measured in continental drift timescales but after that I think it would be hella fun! They're a bit of a rarity here in Oz and not what you would call cheap.

Hi, they really did an awesome job, looks better than new. I'm wondering how much you paid for that ... or what i would cost for a 'normal' customer. Too bad that i'm in Germany and shipment forth & back would cost a fortune itself ... BTW: if you like to get some fancy chrome bolts for your wheels, search for RS-Parts in Germany. They sell 12 bolts for 24,00 EUR! Only thing, you need to be careful with these and not screw them on with an impact wrench. (chrome will peel off over time)

The clearcoat WILL fail, and the cut face WILL corrode again, you should have left them in a plain powder coat colour. And they are still made of cheese.

Guessing the wheels have suffered from salt yes? As a foreigner I don't understand why the UK insists on spraying the roads with car cancer. If road salt was banned would it really bring the country to it's knees? How do other cold countries get by?

Yeah it’s going to be a stone or two piercing clear coat and then water ingress and salt to the fresh alloy over the years caused the corrosion

They did an awesome job. Some smaller rims with some fat sticky tires, lowering springs and a sweet wrap would do wonders.

Lovely job. But i can tell you now; they won’t last. 100% ceramic coat them with 2 coats of Carbon collective or any other leading brand. But any stone chip or light scuff (anything to break the Laquer barrier) you will get water ingress. In addition you can only diamond cut a wheel 1-2 times. These Brabus wheels are soo thin. I usually recommend just getting them powdercoated with a chrome style paint where it looks diamond cut, Or just speckled silver. I just had mine done Satin black. Looks great though. :)
