The Note 7 was perhaps the best received Samsung phone ever and looked certain to be a huge success. It's such a shame that the batteries were so poorly made by their suppliers that this excellent product has become a punchline. If the recalled phones were not refurbished then the story is even more sad. Such a waste.
@JavenJC69
@JavenJC69 2 жыл бұрын
It's not poorly made it's just that the battery was snugly fit inside the phone without any breathing room. Batteries from time to time vent to release build up pressure inside them and considering how snugly fit the battery was inside the phone is what causes the battery to explode
@jozsefizsak
@jozsefizsak 2 жыл бұрын
@@JavenJC69 You are correct about the tight fit and in addition to that, there were two mistakes that were sometimes made in the battery suppliers' factories which caused internal shorts in the affected batteries. The article I saw with the details may have been on Ars Technica but I'm not certain after so many years.
@graealex
@graealex 2 жыл бұрын
@@JavenJC69 Devices that leave too little space for the battery usually just pop open, or in the case of the iPod Touch, it destroys the display. But it usually still doesn't light up. That is still a problem with the battery itself.

I remember when the Note7 dropped while I was in college. I had the Note6 at the time and was looking to upgrade to the 7. My friend actually got his hands on the 7 and that was about two weeks before the battery/fire issues starting popping up. Even when Samsung issued mass recalls for the phone, my friend didn't want to give his phone up. It wasn't until Verizon issued an "over-the-air" update that essentially bricked the phone on its network that my friend decided to send his in. It's a shame really because it was a really great phone compared to its peers at the time.

It will still remain in highest clock speed, even at 67°C when you load heavy thing like game, or even when charging. The thortling start at 70, from there the Soc become slight slower. But 70? The batery will just screamingly scared if i could say

Heres the link: www.ebay.com.au/itm/353824709674 Its the only one I could find. The one I put in my silver Note7 is no longer available. Don't even believe its really 3200mAh. Looses about 40% battery in 5 or 6 hours. As long as it doesn't blow up I am happy. Blows my mind Samsung doesn't sell the Fan Edition battery. After all if you had the Fan Edition model and it needed a new battery you would likely end up buying a 3,500mAh explosive one instead.

I'm a lucky owner of a Note FE. Such an awesome phone, mate. Still had a headphone jack and looked insanely good. The only downside is the Exynos processor, I wish it had a Snapdragon, because even though it initially shipped with Android 7, it received updates up to Android 9, and it just couldn't keep up with the additional load of new features. It's still usable, but some stutters do appear from time to time.

The last phone Samsung truely tried to innovate with. After this they got too scared to try and push tech in significant ways, even today with their super fast charging on the s22 ultra they've designed it so it only charges at 45W briefly before going back down to slow speeds. Such a shame.

I was so mad about the whole issues with the note 7. I had saved up to buy it for a while to upgrade from my Note 3. I never actually did get one, by the time i had got enough news of the issues was well known and decided against it. I just kept the note 3 for another year and ended up getting the Note 8 on launch day. I had also much more recently had a phone battery explode. Somehow i managed to flick the phone onto the floor without noticing then i rolled back in my deskchair and next thing i hear is the HISSSSS a battery makes as it explodes. Im quite experienced with RC hobby lipos and so ran to the kitchen, grabbed a pot from the stove then hooked the burning phone into it and yeeted it outside. Took me hours to get all the smoke out of the house. All in all that wasnt the phones fault at all. But also wasnt what i had in mind, when i bought that phone to use as a burner

Very good repair as always. Like your videos. As i wrote before. I don't care if someone don't want me to have the phone that i bought myself. Samsung can stick their opinion in some weird place of their's. Even when i understand why they did all this sh.. making Note 7 not usable, i still think that my phone is actually my, it must work for me and they have no rights to take it away from me by such methods.

I still remember my coral blue Note7. I loved it for the few months (?) I got to keep it. First recall was a blessing for me. I got my phone on launch day and a few days later, while waiting for a Spigen case to arrive in the mail, the phone slipped from my hand as I was walking in my kitchen and hit the tile floor. It was pretty much ok, despite it being naked, but there was a teeny tiny scratch on the front display in the upper left of where the notification bar was. No biggie, but triggered my OCD since it was a brand new phone! The first recall essentially replaced that phone for me for free and without warranty. Second recall just pissed me off. I was being "forced" to give up my phone in exchange for an inferior phone or a different company's phone altogether. My mindset was, "I had no issues (yet) with mine, so why do I have to suffer???" I was also angry because I had traded in my (non-Edge) Note 4 for the Note7. Note 4 was inferior, but still really good (although kind of boring for a Note, IMO). Obviously, I couldn't have predicted what would've happened with the Note7, and obviously my Note 4 was no longer recoverable. It was also no longer sold by my carrier 'new.' I would pretty much have to spend my upgrade money buying an older 'used/refurbished' phone. I'm technologically capable and all, but I don't know the exact details that caused the reported Note7 issues. To this day, I'm still 50% convinced (back then, I was like 95%) that a majority of the issues were user error. I remember one guy had left his Note7 in his Jeep and returned to the car as it was on fire. If you leave any phone in a car on a hot day, that phone will get extremely hot. But yeah, the phone should be able to take protective measures to reduce temps as much as possible. I recently left my new S22 Ultra in my car in 85F heat (luckily, it was left on my seat and not dash). Phone was super hot, and limited CPU and screen brightness severely (could hardly tell screen was even on!). I held phone over the car air vents until it cooled down enough. In the end, I decided to go to the LG V20. Wasn't nearly as nice as the Note7, but it was pretty good at the time (kinda ugly in retrospect though, lol). I did it in part due to refusing to go with the slightly older S7 (which was still an upgrade over my Note 4). The other parts were because of "protest" against Samsung (I was very salty). I purposely skipped over the Note8 to see what would happen, and to ensure they got their sh** together. Ended up getting the Note9 a few months after its launch day (still waiting to see if there'd be issues, but then found out that Best Buy would have an exclusive silver version and held out for it). Edit: btw, in the video, I LOVE how you removed the protective film from screen and back panel. You purposely went slow. Just like all us techies do for that glorious high we get when unpacking a new gadget.

If samsung made the battery removable, water resistance would be limited to IP67, it would bend easier, make the phone feel cheaper, and potentially could cause people to throw batteries away after seeing the recall,and since you talk about the environment so much, you know that batteries in the garbage bin aren’t that good for the environment.

@Midnight Look at the S4. Do I have to mention that the LG G5? I think we all know why the G5 sucked. Look at the G5 then look at the G6. We all really know that the G5 battery removal method is what Samsung would’ve copied, anyway, ever had to get a bloated battery out of a G5? Not fun. Anyways, I shouldn’t have to worry about a guy who still asks people “what they’re on about” with an anime pfp and a name that could be the family cats.

The company I work for actually has the software to reenable the test menus for Samsung Verizon phones. In the dialer, type in ##366633# and it brings up the debug mode to enable the menus to be accessed. This doesn't actually reenable the menus, but gives the software permission to do so.

I just found your channel and subscribed because I can finally understand a phone repair video! More seriously I have a Note 7 Fan Edition (the re-release phone) which has a slow response screen (i need to tap it 1.5 seconds to register a touch every time) and the screen test shows only the middle X is registering and the edges are not at all. My wife dropped the phone a few times and left it on her car dashboard. Is the screen basically stuffed and will a screen replacement fix it?
