I'm enjoying seeing the home made safe and sound for several more generations. I especially like hearing about the details of why you made the choices you did, like why new roof tiles vs scavenging authentic old tiles.

I am in awe at the skill of your roofers. As someone with lousy balance and a fear of heights, just watching them walk up and the roof with ease and throw and catch piles of tiles made my heart jump. The skills that some people take for granted..... Delighted that the roof has been repaired and you and your cat are cosy and safe.

Those men really are impressive. They certainly earn their pay. Oddly so satisfying to see that old troubled roof torn away and replaced with those beautiful new tiles. I'm enjoying the reno videos - thanks for sharing.

This type of tiled roof has been around for at least two thousand years. Only needs fixing it when it’s truly broken. Most US roofs are lucky to last 20 years. Great reno!

I got a roof replacement job done last year so recognise the techniques and processes. Yours looks great now!

There's something incredibly satisfying watching that work being done. Fantastic work. One step closer to a finished house..,. Just time to roll the sleeves up I'm always amazed at people doing work from a height. I'm absolutely terrified of open heights. Not only would I not get a single tile in, I'd probably end up falling off in fear doing myself whatever damage!! Congrats!! Looking great

Your roofers do such a good job, George. The new roof should last you a lifetime. Tile roof is very sturdy. I purchased extra ones (tiles) just in case some of my tile roof breaks.

Greetings, Somehow when I think of old houses in Scotland I Think of them being built in the 1100-1300's. I am impressed that yours is about 300 yrs old. It really looks good for its age. The roof replacement is a normal part of owning a house. Timing could be better when you need to get it done, but at least there is no snow on ground/roof to deal with. The roofers did a great job from what I could tell. I enjoy your renovations. I like how you explain why you are doing something and reasons for the materials chosen. Glad you and Joonya will be safe, warm, and dry with that new roof. Thank you for sharing your journey. See you in the next one.

Bought a new build about 20 years ago, 4 bed detached, watched them do a complete roof on an identical house opposite me. Huge crane and six roofers, simple design. Started 8.15 am, by 9.00 all the trusses were up, by lunchtime all tiles done, by 3pm all soffits and gutters fitted, quite amazing to watch.

Looks great, gives real peace of mind in our wonderful climate too, we did ours about 6years ago, back to rafters then all modern materials. Even changing the skylights makes a big difference, particularly if visible internally.
