I have to say I was dreading this job myself but was pleasantly surprised at how straightforward it was, honestly! Standard tools (screwdrivers, socket set, spanners) to remove the floor and gearbox tunnel. Same tools again to take the top of the gearbox off. Photograph everything and keep your fixings handy. Long handled pliers with a slight bend at the tips are essential to get the springs placed. Go for it, I’m glad I did!

​@@restosagait is done! All three springs were absent. Took 11 hrs to replace all three. 2 to get the floors out, 2 to get the gearbox stripped, 6 to get the first spring in, and about 15 minutes to get the next two in. Plus a lot of faff putting it all back together again. Not a pleasant bank holiday weekend. It is all in the technique as you said although I found it easier to do with the synchro in 4th, once the springs were under the pin it was just a case of moving into 3rd and they all slotted straight into place. 3rd and 4th gear changes feel quite notchy now, I can actually feel the springs providing a little resistance. Is that normal?

@harrystrickland9238 Nice one, well done! I’d say my 2nd to 3rd change is notchy but 3rd to 4th fairly smooth. I suppose each ‘box will be different
