One thing I noticed is that, inspite of yourself, you did elevate the tree into a slightly more upright position. I, always, enjoy your videos and very talented demonstrations. It is impossible not to learn something from your videos. I shall say that Deshojo are also my favorite tree. Nevertheless, it might be harder to grow them here in Brazil. But this makes them even more desirable. Interesting enough, mine Deshojo has the younger parts of trunk and branches a light green, instead of that beautiful red of yours. But the leaves are as beautiful as you have shown. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Marvellous Trees! You say that all deshojos are grafted, what about the airlayered ones?
@pansepot14904 жыл бұрын
Probably he was referring to the specimens imported from Japan as grafted. The one produced by his nursery are, as we can see, air layers or cuttings.
@peterchan31004 жыл бұрын
@@pansepot1490 You are absolutely right - we produce them from air layering and they are fine and strong - but grafting is a fast process when done commercially - a good grafter can produce more trees than someone who is doing air layering

Namaste Mr Chan San. I am in a dry winter zone/wet summer zone on the highveld of South Africa. Taking into consideration the fact that it is easier to grow softwood cuttings than hardwood cuttings - on a scale of 1 to 10: 1) How easy(1) or difficult(10) is it to air-layer the Deshojo Maple ? 2) How easy(1) or difficult(10) is it to air-layer other Acer Palmatum variants ? Which red-leafed maple would be the easiest to grow from air-layering or cuttings ?

@pansepot14904 жыл бұрын
Peter posted a video about willow bonsai a month ago. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nM1ndcKZ1N-oloU.html Willows are a good beginner tree because they grow quickly and have pliable branches to practice wiring on, but they are short lived trees, prone to dieback and have soft, easy to rot wood that doesn’t last as driftwood feature. so they they are not much appreciated by bonsai professionals. PS by short lived I mean decades instead of hundreds of years other trees can age to.
