Yes amazing place i worked at The photographer . Bill Bernard Cross Mardol printing wedding and portraits . On Fridays payday My friend Janet Mathews Would buy a Parisian Slice from Sidoli,s . They were huge but amazing a real treat ,. I later went Nurse Training at Royal Salop Infirmary and Copthorne Hospital where working on the Childrens ward a met and became friends with a trainee Nursery Nurse named Cathy Maddox who was engaged and married Dominic Sidoli , The old Town has changed so much I was 15 when they took down the Magnificent old Market . It was like a secret building with glass mullioned windows as you walked up the worn old market steps . There was anger and many people upset that they put up the ugly clock building that is still there today and now a grade 2 or 3 listed building ,. So many black white buildings went in the 60s, 70,s and the pride of Shrewsbury was the magnificent building which was knocked down for Woolworth, Littlewoods, Marks Spencer, I know what it was called but cannot think at this moment but it was a masterpiece that the powers that be knocked down . . Shrewsbury my old home much loved town .

Thank You so much for doing these amazing videos of Shrewsbury . I recently watched your video of Old Coleham and Belle Vue . I lived at 39 Hawthorn Road Belle Vue Just a tiny lane away from Montague Place . Keep them coming . and I am sure that I and most people sharing this forum that you should change your title to First Rate as your Videos are done extremely . and you speak clearly . and produce lasting memories especially for Shropshire People . Would be amazing if you would consider doing Berrington School And old Village Hall Church Church Yard as well as the Rectors beautiful old house If possible And the old village then back down Church Lane leading to Cross Houses . Oppostit Berrington church is a Magnificent old Black White Farm house Once again Thanks from a Shropshire Lass . Clun is another beaty too Well done .

Thank you! It really is lovely to read these well thought out kind word. I named the channel early on and it’s kinda stuck lol. I’ll definitely add Berrington School to the list for a future visit. I was hoping to visit Clun this summer but didn’t get round to it, hopefully we get there in the not so distant future! And thanks again 👍

Old Thorntons building now Goldsmith's is the oldest building on Pride hill. It is haunted also, many times I have been in cellar and middle floor it has a strange feeling about it. Good to see Shrewsbury busy!

Osterio used to be opposite the barker street car park, down the alley passed the hairdressers. Amazing Food and Paolo runs it (My old Landlord)

Thanks Louise That makes sense! I went there a fair few times at the old location. Neil Armstrong even dined there in 2010! There’s a Shropshire Star article about it floating around 👍👍

@@thirdratecontent585 I didn't know Neil Armstrong dined there, cool. I love the tagliatelle and Glass of White Wine on the house when I paid my rent after finishing my shift at Shelton Hospital, I really looked forward to it each month. Paolo is a amazing cook.

Shropshire council have a lot to answer for. Wasted something like £60million on a failed shopping arcade, £6million of Shropshire council tax payers money
@lindenbutters93968 ай бұрын
Agreed, but also if we wish to keep shops we need to buy from them. It is disheartening to say this as many shop online and as they say if you don't use it you lose it. Shopkeepers can no longer make a living.

Like nearly every council (and government) in the land incompetence and corruption (followed by chaos) are always the first things that come to mind when reviewing their actions lol. Tho I’m purposely being unspecific 🤣👌

I only wish the sixties changes to layout had never happened. Authenticity is vital.

When are they going to knock down the Raven Meadows shopping centre? That concrete monstrosity needs to go!
@thirdratecontent5858 ай бұрын
I don’t think there is a “concrete” date given for that, as of yet lol 👍
@lindajones72198 ай бұрын
Well since the 1950s onwards Shrewsbury councillors only knock down black white and magnificent building and leave the crappy concrete jungle ones . I worked in Mardol At Cross and sons Photographers and visited the magnificent old Victorian market hall . and watched over the years the decline and bulldozing of beautiful old buildings . Telephone house was built on the Old Smithfield Road Raven Meadows and did not last long replaced by with the Concrete monstrosity . you talk about . There are videos on u tube showing the Old Smithfield And raven Meadows bottom of Mardol magnificent but all went to glory . They have beans for brains in Shropshire Council and a disgrace the millions of tax payers money wasted

I am one of the few who does not get uptight about migrants. I just think that all of us are people and we often move to new places. I feel sad these people are displaced fellow humans, often derided, often a long way from home. I think there are good and bad people the world over.
@thirdratecontent5858 ай бұрын
I completely agree with the sentiment of what you say here👍
