I live in EU and Absorica Retinaldehyde is my fave vitamin a product. It's formulated by a pharmaceutical company in Belgium and the price is much lower than Avene.

Basically for me Tretinoin is the only one I trust to be really effective, Differin is amazing too for acne, but for anti aging definitely, Tretinoin

I just switched to using the Beauty of Josseon retinaldehyde eye cream but all over my face instead of tretinoin because even at a low percentage and building up to it gradually, it made my skin too sensitive to tolerate any other actives, and i really ike the glow that glycolic acid gives me. My skin was always feeling dry and tight no matter how much moisturizer I was piling on. I'm able to use the retinaldehyde along with other actives without any issues at all. I tomerate it much better.

Same w me. I stuck w 0.05% Tret for just 2-3 times a week for about 1-2 years and no matter how much I moisturized or did the sandwich method my skin felt tight, sensitive, and just uncomfortable. So I switched to BOJ eye serum for my face and my skin barrier has tolerated it better. Occasional dry spots but nothing too harsh. I could even use a mild AHA/lactic acid which I couldn't do before, and I'm still getting the same results though which I love

I am one of those who never had a problematic skin, but like creams and skincare. I tried the Avene PhysioLift night balm (retinal). They are namned different here in Europe. My skin did not like it at all, I edured it for 3 - months, and my skin got uglier and uglier. I had used other retinoids before without that effect. One day I just stopped. Now I use the Purito uncented cream and the ordinary 2 % retinoid emulsion. Thankfully my skin has cleared.

after using Adapalene, then tretinoin, both where they were extremely effective but highly irritating, I bought the beauty of joseon retinal and its soooo digestible for my skin. It's retinol without the irritation.

I had a quick question for you Dr. Dray, if you see this. What is the deal with retinol "day creams"? How does the sun not deactivate the retinol in these? Or does it?

Is there any actual evidence that retinol/retinaldehyde work? I mean I have this impression that the only thing that actually studied is tretinoin which has scientific evidence of it's efficiency. However, it's so vague when it comes to retinol.

Hi Dr. Dray, how about the Retinol VS Retinoic Acid? I'm curious ☺️
@lygophilia4127
@lygophilia4127 Жыл бұрын
Tretinoin (retinoic acid) is the prescription version, doesn't have to convert at all. It's been around since the '70s, so it has decades of research backing it. Retinol, as stated before, is a cosmetic, so you're just trusting whatever formula whatever brand has made even though brands selling it don't generally have scientific studies on their products. Tretinoin is likelier to be irritating though.

Avene has a retinaldehyde line, along with Beauty of Joseon has the retinaldehyde eye serum, maelove has a retinaldehyde serum, also Naturium just came out not too long ago with a retinaldehyde. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. If you’re in the EU areas Geek and Gorgeous has a very affordable line I’ve heard good things about but unfortunately for me it cost as much as the product to ship it so not worth it for me.
