Love Malaysia, best food in all of Asia, maybe the world - roti canai and teh tarik for breakfast everyday thanks. Cheap, good quality accommodation, perfect combination of culture, and development/infrastructure. Americans take what is dished out. They accept working until 85, spending $12 for Starbucks coffee, and the intense stress is normalized. When I left the US I was bullied, shamed. I didn’t comply. I had a clear vision to redefine my life after I helped my partner die and my mom die. Both of those experiences taught me to go all in with the lifestyle I want. The clock is ticking. Now I slow travel SE Asia and I feel move vibrant, more Alive, more interesting to me, and I’ve set the table for a feast of life. I became a minimalist which made me feel so free. This year I’ve been to Phillipines, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand and headed to Indonesia and beyond. I feel like I’m 20. Get busy living or get busy dying

Another Hawaii retiree living in Asia since Jan 1st. Sold everything, living stress free and traveling through Asia. I too have had a life changing experience. Have lost 10 pounds, pretty much off all my meds (Blood sugars almost normal, B/P as good as it’s ever been in the past 20 years). My outlook in life was more positive. When I started this journey, I was not sure how long I was going to take. I enjoyed my work (medical field), but was not really aware how it was affecting my health. Was contemplating working another year, kind of a working vacation in Alaska or overseas. Now I realize I can't go back to work, and if I had remained, I truly feel it was somehow lead to worsen health, dependence on more meds. I am really enjoying this journey. Keep up the great work, A Hui Hou

Im 50 years old who had two houses paid off in new York city. My main house where i lived i sold it and put that money in a 5% no risk ira with capital one and also with sofi bank which gets me roughly 3000$ a month. Im collecting 4000$ a month from my other home that is rented out and i left new York for south America 2 years ago and don't regret it one bit. Im renting a Miami style brand new high rise brand new condo for 300$ a month. I feel like a millionaire here. Its almost impossible to spend 2k a month. I dont miss the USA at all life in general as a human being feel normal again dating feels normal again. Im not sure what happened in America but life wasnt fun anymore. People were anti social in the usa. It was a lonely life in the usa. The average American male no matter what age no matter how rich or how poor lives like a castrated caged animal 💯. I spent $750 last month in Thailand, this month I spent $900 with a motorbike and splurged on everything (at least in my opinion). Putting more cash away now than I have in decades. Unfortunately, it looks like we are being taken into some severely sinister financial times so all of this may come to an end for all of us and the ones who didnt save may end up laughing at us. Hopefully this wont be the case.

@@RetireandGo When I first came to Thailand I had already seen the movie about the guy who did time in a Thai prison and also before I lived in Turkey I saw the movie Midnight Express so I was a bit hesitant on both countries, however 2, 3 weeks after being there all that fear was gone (I could also add several more countries to the list). Then I look at all the people being arrested for drugs in the USA, all the homeless and all the crimes people commit due to laws they (the law) should have under control already. Its a total racket and living in the USA is like being a fish in a barrel for them. I was out of there a long long time ago "baby"! Since I was in the service right out of High School I knew there were better places out there, unfortunately it seems as though those countries are now being destroyed as well so you have to be mobile.

Back in the days working in ISIS Malaysia, a government think tank, I was assigned to be the personal assistant to Professor Valencia, from the University of Hawaii, he was working on the spratly island issues in the Southeast Asia. I also had few colleagues from USA, one from Texas, and another one from NYC. Before I left ISIS Malaysia to join KLCC in 1993, I was assigned as the personal assistant to two Harvard Dons from the University of Harvards. @@MountainGoat67 Hotels tend to be more expensive compared to an apartment. If you are doing a short stay you can do either. There are no shortage of apartments or hotels in KL for all budgets. If you prefer to have a kitchen, washing machine and more of a home feeling then go with an apartment. There is also less turnover in the apartments compared to a hotel so you get to know some of your neighbours. For longer term I would go with an apartment.

It's very beautiful there. BUT I don't know about the HEAT!! I have to work if I stay in the USA. I have to 'start over' but I do have a fully paid for home.. but no cash.. at all. So my only options are to wait another year to get SS at 62, and then attempt to live on that with a part time job to afford the taxes, insurance on the house and health insurance. OR sell the house and travel to somewhere like Malaysia or Thailand. I do not want to invest my money in some nefarious pie in the sky.

Sounds like a plan. I am malaysian. I am 56 now. 4 more years to go. 1. I put 700k ringgit into fixed deposit but interest is low at 2.4% 2. I hv a pension fund with about 620k ringgit now. But interest is higher between 5% to 6%. 3. I do have a house. No mortgage. Market value uncertain. I do not have the privilege of having a strong currency like usd. So I know I hv to stay in malaysia. 1 usd = 4.7 ringgit now.

How did you find Chile overall when you visited? In comparison to the surrounding Latin American countries? My wife and I are both in the Canadian military and have over 30 years of service between us. We are both being medical released in 1-2 years and will have an indexed amount of around $4k (converting here - USD) indexed to inflation per month. We are in our mid 30s and plan to move to Chile as Canada is collapsing under unchecked migration. Chile seems to have everything we could want - looking to start a business. Do you see any flaws with our plans? I joined the army at 17 and it sucks to have a lifetime injury but it will be worth it once we are free. 🎉

You CAN build $1,000,000 in wealth on the average income in 10 to 20 years. And if you move to a low cost country, you’ll need way less. Imagine if you do it in 12 years, at 20 years, you'll have $2-$3M! The earlier you start, the earlier you can retire. If you don't act and keep running on that hamster wheel, you will work to 65+ years old. This is not necessarily bad, as long as it is what you want. After all, we need these people to keep the economy going. Don't sleepwalk through life. Be deliberate in choosing your path. I still can't get over boiled iceberg lettuce.😂

Depending on the U.S. Social Security system to provide retirement income is foolish. Not because it will fail -- the government could not possibly allow this to happen -- but because the SS system just doesn't provide enough income to live in retirement. As you have said in many of your videos, plans in addition to SS income are needed.

I can tell from your videos that your life has been very influenced by Buddhist teachings (as has mine). Maybe sometime you can do a video about the 3 poisonous states of mind, (anger, attachment and ignorance) and how avoiding these 3 toxic mind states enables you to live a happy, contented, minimalist lifestyle. So many of the problems we face can be avoided by being mindful of these potential pitfalls. Love the channel ✌️.

My daughter flew to Thailand just over 1 year ago, May 8, and I've paid for everything so far. Her mission was to find a place where I might retire. After months of searching, her conclusion was that Koh Samui was the place. Then she found Koh Phangan and just rented a 1-bedroom detached house on a big corner lot in Thongsola, 10,000 THB/month, and she loves it. She lives modestly, and it has cost me ~$1,900 per month so far, including border runs, visa fees, and everything. It's taken me longer to leave, and Im still here in a Chicago suburb where my RE taxes increased this year from $16,100 to $17,800.

Do we really have freedom and control? Aren't we just swapping one lifestyle with another which is now restricted geographically (cheap countries like SE Asia), politically (visas and visas run), family/friends (many to none close by) and other comfort (that car in the driveway to public transports). I know which life is more sustainable. You can't travel and live like this as an economic migrant till you are 60 or 70s.
