After experiencing Kampot myself and speaking to many older people living there it became clear to me that Kampot day to day living was much easier. People looking to retire want affordable food, rent , clothing ,good company and some money left over for some recreational activities. Already there appears to be a population of both men and woman who have decided that the cost of living in their birth place countries is now beyond them .

food is cheaper in Vietnam outside of HCMC and Hanoi. Beer is much cheaper

The menu you displayed wasn't great value. I know of places in Thailand that are a lot less costly. I once visited Sihanoukvile about 8 years ago and that was a total bargain, before the Chinese took it over. Fillet steak, fries and vegetables was $6 and a beer was 50 cents.

yes i been to sihanoukville and had cheap meal , overall i thought kampot was cheapest of cambodian cities . Compared to australia any where is good

Thankyou for your thoughts. However when I was in Cambodia the people kept telling me that they wanted more tourists , more money coming in . , more jobs . It's something that 2nd tier countries need . We cannot be selfish . Cheers
